Hi,
My Daughter rang to say that her wiper on her A2 stopped working and will not restart.
There had been no warning of this coming, the wiper had been working fine, so I checked the fuse and that was fine.
So the next thing to check was the notorious wiper earth. I only had a socket set in the car and no wire, but I managed to check it by using the socket extension bar. I pushed it into the area just below the wiper motor and levered down slightly so that the top was held firmly against the wiper motor body and also touched the metal of the Brake Master Cylinder assembly) The wiper burst into life again. I only tried this briefly to identify the earth as the culprit (I didn't want and heat to be generated in the brake cylinder housing.
But this quickly confirmed the cause and so I knew the motor was ok.
I have had to ask my usual mechanic to repair the earth / fit an extra earth wire, I don't have anywhere to do this.
Glad it wasn't the motor !!!
