Xenon Bulbs

After searching for months I have finally found my Black A2 TDI SE with Open Sky and Bose! I collect it tommorrow.

One thing that I would like is Xenon lights or bulbs, is this something that the A2 can take and if so how easy is it to do and more importantly is it legal?

Would be grateful if anyone knew anything on the subject

Just go to http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/product_test/product_test_story.php?id=39917 for the best bulbs... I just bought the Osram pair and fitted them this morning... so can't say how much better they are.

The most interesting thing for me there is this:

Philips, Osram and GE supply car makers, and build bulbs to their customers' standards, which are higher than the law requires. Buy one of their packs and you get one of their bulbs. Others, such as Halfords, Lucas, Bosch and Hella, use suppliers, and regularly change them. The only way to ensure you get what we tested is to read the name etched on the base.

So that is to me a good guide as to what to buy...

Go to the Audi-a2 website and look under fitting guides at the fitting of a proper Xenon kit...

On the legality side, I read at an MOT testing station that, cars fitted with xenon lights must also have headlamp washers and automatic self levelling lights.

You could always remove the xenon kit for the MOT test!!!

EU regs require Auto levelling and headlamp washers as poor adjustment/dirty lenses result in you blinding other drivers. If you do not have these fitted then the car is illegal and (certainly in the UK) you would not be insured.

Just go for the bulbs as I oulined above: they are really far brighter! And for the measly sum of £22!!!
