Xenon headlights?

I have seen a few pics of peoples A2's with Xenon lights. What are the best bulbs to get as I currently have some blue 'Xenon effect' bulbs, but although they look good, they are not very bright.

Is it possible and legal, to fit proper Xenons on the A2 or is it best to use a Xenon Effect bulb?

Thaks all!!

It is possible to retrofit real xenons - I've done it, but it's hideously complicated and, if you want to comply to the letter of the law, it's pricey too, as you'll need to fit headlamp washers and self-levelling equipment.

The difference is startling though and I'm glad I;ve done it.

Hi Phil
The best replacement bulbs I have used are Philips Xtreme. They are still a long way off HID's but are claimed to give an 80% improvement over standard halogen bulbs. Only dip beam versions were available when I got mine.
If you decide to ignore the legal aspect(as many do) and go for a HID retrofit kit then try and pick something reputable with quality ballasts and bulbs. The special HID bulbs are re-based to fit into standard reflector units. This is a delicate process as the filament must align precisely with the focal point of the reflector to give an accurate beam pattern. Many of the cheaper bulbs don't do this. Although expensive, the best design kits I have read about (but not tried) are from the States - see link
