Just got back from a 90 mile round trip to York Audi for a pollen filter, (Did a bit of shopping too and had lunch).

Please note: York Audi DO NOT have a parts department or carry any spares. They order spares as they need them from a factor.

Nice big and shiney place though.

Oh well....!

York Audi is my preferred dealer. As Hank experienced though, parts do need ordering in advance however they will get them for next day collection.
The service department are happy to do all the jobs that are simply too tricky for me or require special tools that I can’t access. Their quotes are quotes no matter how unexpectedly difficult the job turns out to be and additional unexpected or broken parts have been supplied FOC. On the whole the car has been returned on time and fully repaired. On the few occasions that it hasn’t they take it back, provide a curtsey car, and fix it. 10/10.

There appears to have been a change of management. The last time my car was in for a service they reported:

- A significant gearbox leak but were unable to be specific, it turned out to be a fuel pump leak.

- A significant oil leak but were unable to be specific, the cam cover was weeping at the back rear edge as I suggested to them.

- Auxiliary drive belt in need of replacement, they later agreed it was good for at least another 10k

The car also came back with a cracked windscreen and while, due to a lapse of time, I could not be 100% sure they had inflicted the damage I was 100% sure that I had not inflicted the damage in the 200 miles since the service. They declined to assist with the repair.

I am no longer able to recommend this dealer.

EEK!

Good specialists and independents can sometimes be SO much better than mainstream dealers - we see this time and time again!

Hope you get your car sorted.

Yes it's fixed now Tony thank you.

- Irrespective of who cracked the screen the wiper arm was badly worn and passing close to the screen. Replaced at a cost of approximately £80.

- The fuel pump screws simply needed tightening up to solve the fuel leak.

- I picked up a cheap OE auxiliary drive belt from Euro Car Parts. The main dealer fitted it for me FOC in seconds working from underneath the car, no special tools needed.

- A replacement cam cover gasket fixed the leak. I had one in my garage but unfortunately the locating tags on the replacement gasket do not match my cam cover. I had to do some tag trimming and seal all the tag location slots on the cover with heat resistant silicone - worked a treat!

- The windscreen was replaced twice, first one leaked, but all sorted now, cost £75 excess.

I think the issue was that the car is now 10 years old and the younger technicians have no A2 product knowledge. I had the same problem with a Mk2 Golf GTi, I stopped taking it to main dealers years ago as they were clueless as to how to work on it.
