Cambelt tensioner

Just in middle of cambelt change this evening and notice both old and new tensioners do not have stop lugs suggested in manual. When wound fully anti clock or clockwise the pointy end just rides against circular housing.

Also the two pin tool keeps slipping off and releasing hydraulic tensioner fully each time i take out the small tab stop. Need 4 hands - one for two pin lever, one to hold it on, another on 15mm spanner and one to release hyd stop tab!

Advice much appreciated.

These are genuine Audi parts incl timing belt.
 
Audi supplied wrong cambelt!

Just gone midnight and after too many attempts at tensioning belt took it off again to measure it - it's around 1cm longer than original!

part no on inner box is 038 109 119 P


but on belt it says VW 038 109 119 S
 
1.2 v 1.4 TDI cambelt

I need 045109119E which is 117cm as opposed to 038 version which is 120 cm!

No wonder it's been an awful night under the car!
 
There aren't any 045s in the UK to the best of my knowledge, I had to check a couple of days ago for a Lupo :(
 
Back to old

OK had to re-install the old belts to get car back on the road. Thankfully noted turn direction before removing so hopefully less risk of problems occuring next few 100 miles till a new belt can be found.

However, I am down on power - fells like turbo not kicking in. VAGCOM comes up with:

Power restored

Small bore hose from back of turbo vane actuator had come loose - back on and car back to normal.
