Hi,

the Air Recirculation flap motor is the easiest to change as it is readily accessible on the left of the blower housing with the glove box and lower A pillar trim removed. The Temperature flap motor can also be accessed the same way although realignment is a bit fiddly. See this thread:

http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthrea...t-control-and-windscreen-demister-flap-motors

The dreaded evaporator outlet temperature sender however is a different matter. Although its just above the temperature and windscreen demister motors, the pollen filter and blower housings are very close and restrict access. Mine needs changing and I have a replacement. I haven't attempted a dash on repair just yet, I don't have time at the moment, but I will, the pins have fallen out of my glove box hinge so it will be coming off eventually to get fixed. In theory, the evaporator outlet sensor may be accessible after removal of the temperature and demister motor mounting bracket. My replacement though as a very long probe which may make removal difficult in the confined space. Unfortunately the guaranteed replacement method for this does mean taking the dash off.

regards

Andrew

Hi,

as noted in the linked thread, if the G263 sensor is dead, the cooling from the A/C will still operate but at a lower power than normal. The reason for this is that sensor is there to monitor the output air temperature from the A/C heat exchanger and regulate the cooling such that the heat exchanger doesn't ice up. If the control unit doesn't know the temperature of the air it won't run at full power but it will still provide some cooling. That's why I haven't gotten round to changing mine yet, the A/C still works, just not as well as it could.

If you are getting no cooling at all, it could be a fault with the A/C circuit (compressor, heat exchangers, refrigerant etc.). Alternatively, if your temperature flap motor is playing up, it could just be that hot air is always being added to the output and even at full power, the A/C won't compensate for the heater being on!

regards

Andrew

The a/c is like ice at mo. Hopefully it will suffice in the summer months.

Thanks again.

You will probably be OK.

Best to clear the codes and then run around for a while and recheck. The codes might be years old!

The day I bought it, last Summer, Tom scanned and I presume cleared codes for me. No issues at the time. When I got my software in the week I did the same again. Yesterday I finally installed windows on my Mac, via bootcamp. Free from the shackles of the wife's god awful laptop I rescanned this morning. And BAMM!

That doesn't sound promising then, but if everything seems to be working ok always follow the golden rule "if it isn't broken, don't fix it!"
