roof bars, sun blinds & photos :)

hi guys,

ive now got my sun blinds, black storage box and roof bars attached to my car :) the problem im having is wether i have the roof bars in the proper place :/ i assume the markings on the rubber surround was due to last owner (martings) having them installed but for some reason when i installed mine the passenger side seems to misalign the door rubber slightly making it extend above the surface.

can i just add that the sun blinds are a very good fit and easy to install. its definitely a good substitute for tinted windows, very happy :)

ive attached some photos of my car and roof bars to show you what i mean :)

Hi,

I like the sun blinds. Where did you get them from?

As to the roof bars. There shouldn't be a gap all along between the rubber and the car when the roof bars are fitted. It looks from the close up that the clamp is protruding too far outwards and pushing the window frame away from the roof.

The correct positioning is for the clamp is to be between the two marks on the underside of the roof edge. The marks are indented into the metal so you should be able to feel them if not see them very well.

You may not have spotted because its underneath but the underside of the rubber seats say which end of which bar goes where which helps when fitting.

Perhaps the clamps aren't tight enough? There should have a torque measuring tightening key like this one:

I have the bars myself and was surprised at how tight they need to go.

hi guys,

i cant remember where the last a2 member got the blinds from but i can ask him :) the quality is really good for a sun blind and they fit easily into the frame of window with no gaps :)

i will re-align the roof bars checking for the two marks on the car, thanks paul.

as for the storage box i have to keep it there for when my wife sits in the boot. need to have my car looking the best when its on the move ;)

the grey storage box has been sold to another a2 member as i now have the black one :)

cheers

Hi all

The blinds were from an eBay company called UK van style. Not sure if they still exist. I will check and post a link if they do.

Cheers
David

Hi all .. we have the rear blinds in ours and think they are great ... fit really well ...much better than window tints .. only downside to them is reversing in the dark .. generally cos we leave them in all the time .. haven't got the rear box but quite fancy one of them ....
