Handbrake Cable

Handbrake cable doesn’t release properly on the rear-left of the car.

If I manually release the cable on the calliper and try again it engages fine with two clicks of the handbrake but refuses to release properly. I’ve greased the calliper and given it a wobble back and forth but to no avail.

What to try next without spending money?)

Thanks for the info guys.

Thought I might have to go down the new caliper route.

More expense:(

Think I found the problem. Someone has overtightened the metal cable ties that hold the cable to the body of the car (near the rear jacking point) and in the process split the plastic sleeving causing water ingress & rusting. New cable I presume....
