A2 on AutoTrader homepage

Just went on AutoTrader and they have a crystal blue A2 on their homepage. :)

It is one of three cars that can be voted for in their "Used Car Heroes" £1,000 - £3,000 range.

They have a good video about the A2. Not sure about the comparison to wind up chattering teeth though.

The other cars which can be voted for are the Lexus LS400 and Toyota MR2.

I think I know which one gets my vote. :)

Just watched the video, nice review until dentures got mentioned, not sure a lot of the good examples are in the £1000 to £3000 estimate yet, but obviously the a2 's getting my vote.

GET VOTING;)

Agreed. The number of A2s left shown as 1830 (displayed at 1:52) should be more like 18300.

I have to tell you that we bought a 14 year old Lexus LS400 with 135,000 miles on the clock for £1450. Everything bar the headlamp washers worked. We did 9000 miles in a year, at 28mpg (not many short journeys) and it was pure luxury. Then we sold it for £1400...

Loved that car and would have another anyday.

Hi Chris

I think the 1800 left was misreading the stats. This site tells you how many of each model there are, and there are 1800 1.4 petrol entry level A2s left:
https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=audi+a2
Overall there are about 16500 or something left in the UK according to that.

That's a better explanation. Figure is c16,400 Here's a graph:

Audi A2 Vechicles Licenced by Year as at October 2015.jpg

Rate of decline is beginning to increase.

Sorry for the poor quality. Copying the graph from OpenOffice Sheet gave a corrupt image so had to do a screen capture. Getting close to ditching OpenOffice.

It makes you wonder why we don't have 16,329 members on here! I think if you own an A2 membership on here is invaluable.

The state of the A2 I saw on the M4 this morning leads me to believe that that number will be reducing by 1 very soon. Also spoke volumes about the mentality of the majority of car owners I feel, hence why forum memberships are small relative to the numbers of owners. Most just don't care. They run the car until it breaks, then throw it away and get another one.

In the rush to produce the graph I forgot that the data at https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=audi+a2 is displayed in 1,000s to 1 decimal if greater than 1,000 (e.g. 1.2k, 2.4k). Therefore the total is not a precise 16,329 and should be given as approximately 16,400 (post changed).

I also looked at the change year on year:

Audi A2 Vechicles Licenced Changes by Year as at October 2015.jpg

We can see how the mid-life model changes didn't reduced the rate of sales decline (sales were 3,309 in the year 2003 compared to 4,909 in 2002) and the final Special Edition in 2005 cleared the remaining 1,600 vehicles in (I recall) the first 6 months.

Why were the loses so low in 2008,2009 & 2010?

Data:

20024,909
20033,309
20042,760
