Error code P1031

Got an Audi A2 and it's not running properly.

Plugged in a basic obd2 reader and getting code P1031 intake manifold air control valve position sensor.

My mechanic has started to strip down the car to check the flaps but is struggling to get the upper manifold removed due to access.

Are there any how to's to remove the wiper panel?

Also I have ordered part number 036129061A (vacuum actuator, £120 from Audi) as suspecting the arm has snapped on the flaps

Should I need to change the potentiometer as well? Any idea price?

So my mechanic changed the vacuum actuator, cam belt, water pump and did a service (plugs, filters, oil). After £700 still a piece of ****!

Different error codes now

Note: he doesn't have any vw software. Is this definitely required after all this work?

And also I can't see the vacuum actuator moving up or down when revving the car!
