List Of Independent Garages

After reading several threads
i have wondered if it would be possible to compile a list of
Garages that

(1) Able to offer a value for money service on our A2's
(2) Have all the correct tools to complete the job in hand
(3) Will not steal are money once all work completed ......

There must be some a2oc members out there that have had experience
with other garages/mechanics that we could pass onto other members
and therefore not live in fear everytime the car goes wrong when we take it
to the stealers so if you no of any good garages/mechanics

PLEASE LET US NO HERE ...........

independant garages

Now that is a good idea Wooly. I'd love to find one in my area, the best I can do is the local VW agent, good, but not significantly cheaper than Audi compared to an independant, and cannot do anything involving diagnostic software. Is this a real or Audi imposed restriction?

Independant garages

My independant who looks after my Volvo said he would be happy to service the A2. Just out of interest I looked in his books for the time of jobs. Change A2 cam belt , 2 hours, and he charges £40 per hour + VAT, plus parts of course. I seem to recall some of our members paying very much more than than that. I might take him up on that when necessary, he's not an Audi specialist, but is very competent with anything I've seen in the workshop, including quite a few VW. I hesitate to post him as an independant on this site because he is not aan Audi specialist.

Im sure there are people in your area with an A2 that would like to know your experiences with your local mechanic not all jobs have to be completed by the Stealers..........

servicing costs

I asked my dealer today how much for a service. I was told £340, and said you havent asked what model, she replied "they are all the same". I said "so if I had an A8, it would be the same as an A2". An A8 may be a bit dearer I was told because it uses a bit more oil.
Very pleasant receptionist, no complaints there though, only quoting the firms charges. It does seem strange though.

servicing costs

I forgot to add to my post above £88 + for a brake fluid change. That is expensive!
Wooly, is there any one near Chippenham who can service an A2 for a reasonable cost? There appears to be one at Melksham and one at Swindon but I know little about that area.

servicing costs

MyTDI 90 recently had its first sevice after 2 years and 22,000 miles.
I took it to an Independant Audi Specialist,
Autodeutsch Ltd
Norton Street
Miles Platting
Manchester
Tel 0161 205 2732

IT cost me £195 for the service with long life oil and a brake fluid change, which i thought was very reasonable compared to the near £400 quoted by Audi.

Dale thats sounds good think it might even pay me to drive up there from down south to get a service. Even with travel costs still be a lot cheaper than down this way

Wiltshire

See http://www.audivwcentre.com/ -------------Wiltshire

Today booked the car into AudiVolkswagen centre in Melksham for a 2 year service (23K on clock). Was quoted £160 for the service plus another £27 for a brake fluid change, and another £23 for tracking check (hit some nasty pot holes recently). They said they used Audi parts and therefore the warranty is not affected. As you can see from the web, one is not paying for the plush premises of the main dealer who sold me the vehicle - they said it would cost £450-£500.

Incidently, the Westbury Oval VW dealer declined to service the vehicle as in their opinion it would affect the warranty.

Nice one Alan may have to check that one out myself and
i know Hollyrescue was looking for a garage in the Melksham area ...
Let us know how you get on !!!!

independant garages

Alan, that's useful info. I'll look them up when next in Wiltshire (soon). I'm trying to find them on the map, all I recognise in Melksham is Leekes and Aldi. It looks as though its nearer Devizes than than that.

FYI (and yes i know its for my new A4 but...) i have just taken my car to mark tempest autocentre for a wheel bearing problem. they were very good in getting it booked in while i have a few days up in this part of the world. i will report back on the pricing and service after i collect.

regards
