Sorry with this old chestnut yet again. But i cant find the post that i have seen before. I think Skipton01 gave the actual size but i cant remember

I have a 2001 TDI SE, which i about the replace the standard chrous head unit for a pioneer DEH-55BT, but I have just found out that there are no speakers in the rear door (only picked car up last night!)

So i am looking for a replacdement set, I dont want to start hacking the door panels etc, so would like something that will fit in without mod

any help please

John

Hi. I´ve built in Pioneerspeakers made esp. for Renault by modifying them into original speakerboxes:Alternatively you´ll get very wet doortrims. My speakerboxes are a mix of Blaupukt boxes (made for A2) and pioneer fitted watertight in the doors. sounds well to but I´ve bought a sub now that I´ve not desided where in trunk to place it.
I can mail fotos of speakers! They look great :signal yellow membrane slightly seen through the grey speakerpanel.

Hi John,

If you just want something which will slot straight in, then you can't go for anything other than Audis own speakers, because anythingelse will require adapter rings etc.

From memory (I fitted them in my fisrt A2, which also came without rear speakers), they're about £60 the pair, which isn't exactly cheap, but they do sound good.

The only problem you'll have is that you'll need to run wiring to them, which isn't too difficult a job until it comes to getting it through the corrugated rubber hose between the B pillar and the rear door.

Best of luck to you, but it'll be all worth it in the end.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike

Dont suppose you know anywhere where Audi stuff can be bought online do you?, only walked into my local Audi Dealer having driven my new 51reg TDI, and they looked at me as though i had just drove in a reliant robin!!, put it this way I felt poor!!

So wont be going there again!

cheers

John

Try www.vagparts.com - join the A2OC properly and you'll also benefit from a 10% off deal too.

Alan and Martin are very helpful guys - give them a ring and they'll sort you out, you don't need to quote part numbers or anything either.

I know what you mean about main dealers seeing us as bottom of the ladder customers - however my local dealer now knows better and I get a decent reception there now!

Cheers,

Mike

Adrenaline said:
how much would dealers charge to fit the speakers
£80-100 per hour labour, plus parts = about £400!

Cheers,

Mike

PS I've yet to find a dealer that is willing to fit parts brought to them by a customer.

I had a set of genuine A2 speakers, bought from Vagparts, fitted in the rear doors, for less than £100. that included running cables to the rear doors.

It was done by Hickley Valtone in Bridgwater, Somerset

hope this helps#

Woah £400...Audi dealers are pretty ridiculous

i called Alexander Audi Hudds today my interior lights never go off when the door is locked. they said it could be the locks and quoted £200

jeez
