Spot of no condensation

For years now I have noticed a spot on my A2’s windscreen where there is no condensation in the mornings, though all the rest of the windows are covered in dew. It is right in the middle of the screen right above that weird nipple on the dashboard. When the car’s battery was dead over the last month this spot did not appear.

So, what makes the window that bit warmer here? Is there some sort of signal going through there that makes the window warmer in this area? Or are there little fairies in the car keeping a spot dry so they can look out?

This morning I also noticed this on an A8 parked in my street.

It's the Alien tracking system that uses radioactive beams reflecting off those black nipples to monitor all the things in the world that they think are the dominant species on the planet - ie. cars, which slightly warms the glass...

I'll get my coat!

I believe the liitle 'nipple' in the middle of the dash you're talking about is the Sunlight sensor, which the climate control uses to compensate ambient temperature. That's also where the front windscreen vent is so may be some residual warmth has kept that bit above dry. I certainly notice the CC blow drying the inside mist of the windscreen at start, but am pretty sure my entire windscreen is covered in ice this morning!

The glass is not warm enough to keep ice at bay. I'm just referring to dew or light condensation on the outside. I'll try to take a picture at some stage.

On the inside I presume, like mine. I'm wondering whether when I exit the car in the evening I should open both doors and clear the car of warm moisture laden air instead of exiting quick and rushing indoors.

That nipple sensor is a nuisance in the summer as as soon as sunlight falls on it then then AC starts pumping out too cold air.

BTW, I've noticed the non condensation spot on the windscreen as well.

Just a thought try turning the vent off to the screen before you leave the car and then see if it still does it, as it just maybe air flowing through the vent that keeps that part clear, as i had on mk4 escort once and the alarm that i had fitted always used to go off at night one of the resons given was air flowing through the vents and setting the alarm off (BULL***T) springs to mind, but hey there maybe enough to keep that bit clear try it
