1.2 tdi starting problems when warm and stops sometimes on idle

A2 started fine for few days, but I only had to start it from cold or hot. Here is what happens when engine
is warm. I drove 2km to pet food store and this is what happened:

I'll try test fuel line in weekend. I bought 50ml syringe and I'll try to suck air from fuel line... or is there
better ways to do it?

Is it an issue with the key/ignition? As soon as the revs die, the instruments switch off. Looking for air with a syringe won't work. You need to temporarily add a clear length of tubing to the tandem pump inlet and then look for air bubbles in the fuel.

Key is fine, I just immediately turn off ignition when it won't start -> lights go out. Starter just stops before engine is running.

I guess I need clear tube and cam&light under the hood so I can see bubbles when I accelerate uphill.

Why are you so convinced that it's not a starter/starter relay issue?

You can check for bubbles at idle.

i have similar issues to you where it starts fine when cold but once warm it cuts out and wont start again until its cold
replaced camshaft/crankshaft sensor.. new fuel filter and battery also.. just away to change the coolant temp sensor but have a feeling it wont recticfy the issue.. i really hope you find the problem..

o ring seals???

I'll get my Audi back from service today.

Injectors were removed and tested, but nothing wrong with them either. They recommended
changing two injector nozzles, but also said that it's only minor problem and it's not cause
of the problems. (211 000 km driven now)

Battery and charger was changed earlier along with timing belt.
After timing belt change car stopped starting when hot. Now it only starts when engine is cold.

Fuel line camera is my next project so I can record possible bubbles on fuel line while driving.

I'll report if anything changes with new injector seals... propably not.

Injector seals takes about 50min to change, no biggie, a thing to do just for fun. Though leaky seals often result in limpmode and other fun stuff as well. ;)

Though I really think your problem is the supply of diesel.
You'll need one of these:

Vacum pump.

Looking down into the engine bay, standing in front of the car, I think it's the hose marked with a blue stripe on the right hand side of the engine (diesel inlet). If you snap a photo I can point it out for you. :) If you need more "direct support", send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number.

Next time you have a non-start, try releasing the fuel cap to see if that helps. Interestingly, the Lupo 3L has a breather valve near the fuel cap; the A2 doesn't.

Is the fuel filter installed correctly?

IT WORKS!!!

At least starting problem is gone. Injector wiring loom was changed and injectors got new seals.
Engine starts immediately when I turn key like diesel should.

Start&stop is still not working. Tried twice -> didn't start -> no eco-mode, but I can live with that.

This is looking better now. Tomorrow I will see how it goes on motorway. :)

When was your last transmission basic setting done?

Less than year ago. Transmission has worked flawless always.

I tested that cap thing some time ago, but there was no sound when I opened cap and it didn't make any difference
for starting.

I haven't checked fuel filter, but it was changed twice when I started trobleshooting this.
