1.4 petrol low compression or dealer fast-one?

Wow!

Well done Phillippe. I'm glad that you finally got the car fixed. You have the patience of a saint. I would have scrapped it years ago.

It just goes to show how poor the standard of some dealers are. 8 or 9 months to repair a car? It makes a mockery of having engine management systems and fault codes.

I hope your wife grows to love her A2

Thanks,
Just to give a little bit of credit to my dealer. All the cylinder head work he did under guarantee and he only charged half the man hours trying to locate the fault as he booked the rest to training. He also gave me 10% off the parts and allowed me to source my own parts cheaper. I found new cams in Germany for a third of the Audi price saving nearly £500. By the end of this ordeal, I was on first name terms with all the mechanics.
Car goes back in next week to fix the water leak from the newly replaced cylinder head and to replace the plastic undertray that they forgot to replace and since lost, hence helping me detect the water leak under the car!
There are a few electrical gremlins to sort out, namely door locks, but seeing a fuel average of 5.8 litres per 100/Km helps the pain.
Thanks to everyone's support and suggestions, much appreciated.
