correct the latter TDI's are 5 volts, earlier are 12volts and there does not appear to be a clear cut over point
Don't get the wrong ones , ask @sco he learned this the hard way (sorry Simon)

This is my thinking also. The main thing is not to rely on these websites where you put in your reg number to guarantee that you will get the right parts sent for your car - this is where I went wrong. So I put 5v plugs in instead of 12v - the end of one of the plugs disintegrated which scored the cylinder bore and damaged the cylinder head and the turbo necessitating a full re-build.

If you look on the old plugs they will have the voltage marked on them - check the new plugs have the same marking before you fit them!
