Yes. I pressed the pedal after inserting switch

If the switch has been previously used, it must be reset, before installing it, then it self adjusts to suit the new application.
No idea how to do this though, sorry.

On mine I just pulled the plunger out firm, it had a serrated bit on it.

Already asked if the switch has been reset.

Regarding fitting of the switch, to re-set it, I assume that means pull the plunger fully out before fitting? I did that, but will give it another go………..

So…… re-fitted the original switch again.
Lights working correctly! Switch must be on its way out I guess.
I have a replacement on its way from A2Steve. Will see how it goes….

All it could be really unless the wiring had shorted. Keep us informed over the next few weeks.

The brake switch is a common failure across VAG cars of our vintage, I'd recommend buying a new, genuine VAG part, and fitting it out of the box, (no pressing it). Given the hassle many members have had, it's surely worth it?
