1st Oil Change

Well I'm going to try & do an oil change on my 1.4 tdi & what just wondering what I would need?
I know I'll need a new filter but will I also need a new sump plug?
Also I've got 5ltrs of Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 A1 Fully Synthetic that I brought for my last car, will this be ok to use?

For tdi engines the oil must meet VW spec 507.00. If it does not list this spec on the Magnatec tin then I would not use it. Castrol Edge 5w30 is one of the approved oils
The sump plug has a captive washer so its best to fit a new one.
You will need a large hex socket (could be 34mm) to remove the oil filter cap. Its plastic so use a full hex socket (not a bi-hex) to save chewing the corners off the cap.

Odd question but
Im planning on doing this at the weekend with a bit of other maintance
So will have the air scoop out
Is its best to add the new oil in the normal top cap as I will have room to use or via the A2 service flap
