A2 Under Bonnet Drains

Hello all bits arrived today and I have fitted the pipes, I am not sure of where the scuttle drain should be routed I initially routed it around the air intake and to the front strut however on testing it the aux belt was covered in water please see the photo, so I then routed it behind the passenger side headlight, it's hard to know where it was initially routed too, does anyone have any suggestions or photos for reference

Nearly right.....It goes around the other side of the large black plastic air filter down pipe (runs down and parallel with it) and the open end should be right over (in line) with the unused webasto holes in the engine undertray which allows the water to drain away easier . Use a large black tie wrap to secure the two pipes together... Audi did originally. :)

Cheers for that however my A2 has a webasto heater so it's all pretty crammed around that part of the engine bay and I didn't want water spraying on the webasto heater or its exhaust pipe.

If you look in the thread of "The best" TDi for sale at the moment, you will see an engine bay picture showing how it was originally routed. Perhaps those pictures should be saved for reference!

Had a look at your beauty John, WOW! Wishing I had some spare cash! I have routed it as per your engine bay, the only thing I was unsure of was the routing down the side of the engine however made an educated guess on that one.

Hi all--could use some help. I've just adjusted my shifter cables (which I'll kvetch about on another thread) which made it clear that water's been in my engine bay, if the general state of the place wasn't enough to go on.

I have drains on the left and right to match the bonnet, and one coming off the scuttle tube--am I missing any? As for the right side drain over the tower selector, it was aligned as in the picture below:

It's really difficult to see where it needs to be to match the bonnet drain on my car (03 plate 1.6), but I would think that the arm holding it to the ABS module bracket should be upright, like so:

But then there's John's helpful underhood photo that shows his is aligned at an angle toward the firewall (and covering the tower selector, which is the thing I'm trying to protect here):

Thanks in advance for helping me begin the process of resolving the rather shocking conditions under my bonnet.

My car is in the sick bay at the moment so I can easily get pictures.

Aluminium scuttle drain, take a good look at this one, it does splash drips onto the tower (or it did in my case)
