I had a good read through this thread today, trying to find inspiration for my grey one. Mine is Dolphin grey with black interior, not very inspiring at all, for me at least, so I like what you have done with yours. Still not sure If I can bring myself to invest too much in it, but will have to see if/when I sort the starting issues 🤔

Love the Sunbeam Stilletto as well, and also the fantastic caravan, looks like you did a marvellous job building that!

I had a Hillman Imp back in the day, it was my 3rd car I think, good fun to drive.

Anyway, great thread, I enjoyed reading it, keep up the good work Sir :)

Cracking photo, what's the blue thing on the window? I love the fact it was rusting already

I don't remember it being rusty, maybe that is just muck.. The blue thing is just some strange soft toy. I was larking about in it with some mates once, doing wheelspins, and totally shredded both rubber drive donuts. Had to leave it in a pub car park and go back and fix it the next day :)

Thanks, it’s a bit of an accidental car really, but it’s turned out very nice and it drives really well now.

An emergency swap over happened last Wednesday…….I was due to go to the Netherlands with the imp club, but only got as far as Chievely on the M4 when the gearbox made a horrific noise and seized up. This was followed by a 6 hour wait (yes really!!😨😨) for the AA to rescue me, which was scary.
I had booked the overnight ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland which I obviously missed, but managed to re book the morning 9am ferry. I got home at 10pm, swapped my stuff and the caravan, printed new documents, shower, slept 2 hours and up again at 2.30 am to do it all over again!
Obviously Chad did it without issue, and covered the 350 odd miles to Friesland in the North, arriving at 6pm to a whole lot of clapping from fellow club members for the effort.
We had a great time, a ferry last night and a very long and slow drive back today.
This car has done a lot of towing miles since I’ve had it😀

Oh interesting - I saw a stranded red imp with a trailer just like yours getting rescued by the AA from a lay-by or the hard shoulder during the week - either early on Wednesday or late on Thursday. I can’t remember where exactly but Chievely on the M4 sounds very possible - Was that you?!

EDIT: Just seen the pic of you on the M4 in your post - I’m going to call that a “was it you” spot as it WAS you! I whizzed by in Audrey just as you were being loaded onto the big yellow taxi!

Glad the A2 stepped in and got you there without fuss. I would drive mine to Moscow and back without a second thought now that any problems have been addressed.
