Audi A2 Fuel Flap release switch cost

Just wondering why the Audi A2 fuel flap release switch is so costly ..compared to other Audi fuel flap switches which are £12 approx...Why are they made so different......It's just a release button to open the fuel flap....Even on E bay secondhand they are asking £50 or so...Where as Deutsch Parts are only £17.95 ..when they're available but not at the moment ..Very annoying

I use upside down ones! Lol

Hi, do you know if any of the other Audi switches work?

George

The fuel and alarm buttons on the A2 are unique due to their curvature and no other model fits nor does the A2 buttons fit in any other model. To make them even more rare the buttons are handed for LHD or RHD cars. although the more common LHD buttons can be fitted to a RHD car by mounting them so the symbols are upside down.

Good Afternoon (Just),

Basically the tank switch is now NLA from Audi which means general retail is restricted to any remaining stock and a seller can charge what they like, typically at least double the former price, supply and demand...

The RHD switch is available new on Audi Tradition for roughly £35 including postage via Rick.

Hi there You'd think there be a case for copies to be made by the Motor Factors being as Audi are not supplying them anymore..with thanks

Audi Tradition don't post to the UK since Brexit, unless you've got an EORI number (for company import VAT purposes). As private individuals, we have to order via @Rickmeister who's in Germany, he receives the goods from Audi Tradition then posts them out to the UK and fingers crossed they get through customs under the radar. To keep all delivery/postage costs down (including to Rick), it's done as a group order. Here is the information thread for the current group order from Audi Tradition, with everything you need to do.

And do you know George ..VW golf, Bora and Passat…all the same for each vehicle and around £10..Why did Audi make the Audi A2 fuel flap switch different to all others..Doesn’t make any sense

Why are there two types of dash, why is the coolant tank slightly different to Polo and Fabia, why a different cover over the gear change cables and one with storage. Daft little decisions that added nothing except cost…..

It's why we love them so much George!

I’d love them even more with a smidgen of value engineering in some things that only add cost, not value. IMO

Those little design touches is why it was called a "limousine". IF the fuel and alarm switches had been fitted into the door car or dash then a flat switch could have been used rather than the curved switches on the B pillar.

The A2TT thread on here has the TT switches utilised so it's possible
