Audi A2 replacement....A1?

Nice looking car.
Would that be the high up model, if I was looking to replace my A2 WHICH I'M NOT I'd have one.

@Darren C - have you taken delivery of the Up yet?

Apologies, I’ve just noticed the engine was a pointer in your post above. Please remember I’m still running in, so haven’t used the full rev range. It pulls really well, the turbo spools low down around 1500 rpm resulting in instant pick up and the ability to short shift, should the mood take, to maximise fuel economy. 70 miles per hour is less than 3000rpm - long ratio in the five speed box which is smooth and positive. With a loaded car, 4 up and luggage, we returned around 56mpg without trying during our drive to/from the Birmingham A2OC social last year.

For a 1.0, 3 cylinder turbo, it is nippy enough despite its small displacement. I love the throaty note of the 3 pot too - a pleasure to drive - with enough shove, read in gear acceleration, to have fun. It is no sports car, but catches out more than its fair share of, on paper, more powerful cars.

We've had a Citigo with the 75PS motor for over 3 years and I love it. Great fun to drive and the engine just screams 'SPANK ME!'. So I do. It still returns well over 50mpg. I asked for a test drive of the TSi of our local VW dealer when it was announced, but gave up after about 3 months of trying. Talk about apathetic.

I'm pretty sure that the engine you've got there is the perfect match for the A2; very light, free revving, willing and frugal, all topped off with an infectious three-pot thrum and a gearbox with a very light action (makes my A2 feel like a truck). Suitable candidates from scrapped A1's on ebay can now be had for not too much money. I recognise quite a bit of A2 DNA in the running gear of our Citigo on the rare occasion I've had cause to get under it.

It most certainly would be. I’ve loaded it up mind, only thing I didn’t go for was the pan roof - an option I have on the A2, but thought £700 was pushing too far. I have added the heated leather seats, reversing sensors and camera, auto lights and wipers, smart city braking (crash avoidance), cruise control, 17 inch polygon alloys and a few more items. It’s a great little package.

I’d endorse that. It is a great partner for the up! and would make a willing pairing for the A2. It makes my FSI seem pedestrian, but I love my little Audi regardless.

I changed from an A2 to an A1, and in a way i do regret it. I had had my Tdi re-mapped and did pull like a train, very economical still as well. Just checked on the Gov website and its taxed but has had no MOT since Oct last year? A1 is more up to date with stuff but thats it really. Will I get another A2?

Possibly :)

I went from an A2 to a fully soecced A1. I missed the quirkiness and character of the A2. I also maintain that the A2 was bigger inside. Especially in the two door A1s.
