Thanks, I was planning to tackle them next because of the oil consumption without burnt oil, just wasn't sure this might be related or not.The oil breather pipes at the back of the engine may be blocked.
This is normal for most engines. When you remove the filler cap, you completely upset the engine breathing system, hence the fumes are forced out of the filler. Nothing to worry about I would say.Is there any other reason for this except worn piston rings? It does consume oil a bit, but there is no blue smoke or smell of burnt oil in the exhaust and it passed the emission test without issues. Would a bad oil separator cause this?
