Bit of advice please

Sorry to hear of your dilemma however a question not yet asked, Is your wife ok?

as this would make it lean more to going through the insurance route which I would advise in the first place

I understand the cost issues but sometimes you have to cover your back if you will excuse the pun,

one way or the other there will be a cost implication and I would advise you to take the insurance route, after all it's what you pay it for

Good luck

Thanks, yeah the wife is ok. ( it was the first thing I asked her...honest ;) )
Was only a low speed shunt, but being it was a land rover it had a bit more weight.

He is going to get his local garage to repair and pick up costs and we get a courtesy car while in. He sounds like a nice guy and very sincere so we shall see.

Im also going to research the garage when we get details just so I can communicate with them etc.

Hi Steve, sorry to hear about the accident and hope your dear wife is ok and hasn't got any issues like neck pain (sometimes appear later on!)

It's a very risky situation with insurance in this position. I believe you are required to tell them either way. This also leads to your premium going up even though your not at fault, you just being in this situation means they will increase your premium, I know its really wrong but they work like that.

If this guy decides to throw a wobbler later on, and refuses to pay, then what will you tell the insurance? they will ask why wasn't it reported? this will also go against you.

I'd agree with guy he pay for an inspection with the rear bumper removal costs paid by him, and carried out asap, with the premise that if there is body damage, you will go through insurance.

I suspect you will likely have some damage to the area behind the bar mounts, therefore more damage than you may think.

I've got the rear crash member in excellent condition, and a rear bumper (albeit in the wrong colour) just removed from a car. Dependent on where you are, it might be cheaper to collect.

PM Me if you're interested.

As well as A2 Steve, I also have a rear bumper (Red) and rear bar, I'll have to have a check as to condition as their still on the car!

Just a quick update. We have the car back after a very good repair job (took a while to get it organsied but all done).
They needed to replace the rear crash bar and repair the plastic fixers on back of the bumper but it looks amazing.
So we have it all back and looking as it should. :)
1 happy wife and 1 happy husband that is trying to make the A2 last another couple of years :)
