Bonnet across Britain

I'm happy to do this too. I think John o Groats to lands end would be great, photographed and signed by all the people at its handover points and on all the A2s involved. You could make a great collage of the various cars and people involved with bonnet in the centre and auction it off on EBay when it is done. Let's make it a UK wide effort and focus on making an effort over certain weekends to get as many of the transfers done as possible to get it moved as quickly as possible. Not sure about others but I'd be happy to give up a weekend to get this done. Great idea.

Wow what an offer!!!! Your a good man :) Not sure how I could get the bonnet to you though that's the only issue. I don't know what everyone else thinks but I think if you could do something with the service flap that would look awesome with the Cobalt Blue standard bonnet.

Yes a great offer indeed.


With 50 stickers, or more hopefully, on it the great paint job would be unseen, whereas the flap could be kept clear of stickers.

How would the signature be added to the stickers? Have you seen any examples for sale thatvwe could use?
 
Just have them printed with a white rectangle on them, the paint pen can be used on that area.

Lovely idea indeed. Could be done like a baton relay round the country starting with the members at the next social then plan a route round the UK. I'm happy to sign up to part of the Scottish /northern England sections. We'd need to plan out who was up for it and their locations assuring we had a photo blog of each handover as has been mentioned. Each leg 2 weeks was mentioned so do we plan for 25 ish handovers and it returns to the same social next year or is that too drawn out. How fittingly quirky :rolleyes:

That's exactly what I had envisioned. As mentioned, if it's going to be my bonnet that's used then it would have to be ADI or someone would need to meet up with me beforehand to collect it for a social occurring sooner if needed.
 
To Pocoloco - if you are planning to come to ADI, perhaps you could bring the service flap to the meet?
 
I've been chatting to Gary (Jigsaw) about this and he has kindly offered to laquer the bonnet once it's all finished.

I will wet-sand the bonnet before doing the first signiture to ensure good adhesion and it will be passed to Gary last to laquer it once everyone has had the opportunity to take part and sign it.

Once finished it can then be auctioned to raise money for the designated charity.
