Hello and greetings from Northern Europe. I bought A2 petrol 1.4 2001 earlier this year and have been reading this great forum ever since! I have had problems with battery drain (about 4-5 days when not in use) and with locking.
Symptoms for locking problems: usually opens when tried couple of times, when open/close, all doors/boot are opening/closing and fuel flap works ok. When cold/rainy central locking ticks and flashes lights. I did scan and got error codes: 01031, 01331, 01332, 01333, 01334, 01560, 01561, 01562, 01559. I changed module and wires from the main door and also parts that are next to lock cylinder. Battery drain is difficult since it does not show draw when locked so I assumed something wakes car later from sleep mode.
Have been reading that CCCU is very unreliable at earlier models and think that it would be worth to try newer one. My unit is 8Z0 959 433 C and year 2000. At least it was dry. Checked part number matrix and understood that AF version is very reliable and should also work with manual rear windows model. Since AF is the newest model will my connectors/pin arrangement fit or if not, can I make it work with new (used) wire set with plugs that will fit? I understood that frequency for keys is possible different so new fobs also (8Z0 837 231D). But when I look the matrix both models seem to use PR-5D1 number 433.92MHz? Using locks without remote would not be deal breaker tough. Are all the AF models with remote locking? There is never PR codes with CCCUs when checking eBay.
