Climate Control Panel

Sent today Will. Remember to do your matt black touch up first if needed but leave the worn off patch as this is needed to light the new +/- etc

Dont the stickers bug you?

I`ll get a pic up of my unit with the new buttons in. Not bad for a £20 fix all in.

No the stickers don't bug me. I'd hate to see brand new buttons go the same way as the old ones with the black wearing off. This a an inexpensive and easy fix with secondhand climate units going for £50 on ebay plus not everyone has the talent to remove the old buttons from the unit

A couple of pics of the change over.

The more I use it the more pleased I am with it as I never have to worry about the buttons wearing off again!

Just need to sort out the stereo buttons now.

Wow, the pictures make it look a good as new, an excellent job ! I have EXACTLY the same issue as you with the Concert CD buttons. Unfortunately the car came without the Stereo Code so I'm reluctant to rip it out to sort out the paint, so have been looking for a cheap secondhand one on ebay with codecard. Easier to replace it all I think, just need to patiently wait.

The new buttons look good, pity they're all a different finish. I assume you needed to take the unit out to remove the original worn buttons?

If your system is canbus you can remove the stereo and put it back without the code. . . . Some long as it goes back into the same car it wont ask for a code

I think this was for 03 cars onwards

The buttons are all the same finish, its just they are different to the Finish on the A2 units.

Given the A2 units can go for around £50-£100 for one with new looking buttons, I opted to go for an A4 unit which while is a different finish will never rub off (like the A2) and was only £20 delivered!

Yeah, you need to remove the unit and unscrew the front pannel (5 screws) to be able to remove the buttons. Takes about 10 -15min to remove unit and change the buttons over.

Takes about 30 seconds to apply the stickers. Guess we've both made our choices

Hi Olly,

I would like to embark on such an exercise....but I am very apprehensive. I've got an A4 unit for donor buttons...but now I need some guidance. Please could you tell me what steps I need to achieve what you successfully did.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Che

Just managed to get an Audi A4 climate controller off of Ebay for £12 delivered so I'm about to undertake this as well. Thanks for the info and will look much better than stickers and will last longer as a tougher black finish on the buttons. I can't see how the stickers could go right around the edge of the button so surely white edges would still be visible. Cheers Aaron

I'm holding out for one at a good price too, worst case it'll be £25.
