Cruise control on a 2002 1.4 AUA

I've been trying to retrofit cc for quite some time now but I can't figure out how to do it. I know there are multiple posts about it on this forum and I've read them all. None of them seems to be the same as mine. I dont have white 17 pin plug but a 10 pin one, I also have a brown one and a blue one. The blue one has 17 pins but then again I can't find all the wire colors there should be for cc.
Neither can I get the ECU plug out because I can't get the ECU itself out of the 200IQ lock it has.

I hope someone can help me out. The car is left hand drive, and because I live in Norway I can't simply get Tom (from what I've learned he is the expert in this group) to do it.

Evening Joakim,

Welcome to the Club. You may have already seen what I’m about to link but it’s spot in with the pinout from the Cruise Control stalk to the ECU. Having only ever done this retrofit on RHD A2s I couldn’t comment on the complexity or differences conducting this retrofit on the other side of the vehicle but would suggest they’re minimal.

The last post in the linked thread below should help out:

Post #7 in the below thread should also help out:

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks a lot Tom, now it only comes down to getting the ecu out. Ive tried pushing the lock tabs without any luck. Is there a procedure to get it loose? The part of the plug you need to pull out stops in the chassis that holds the ecu, so I can't get out without taking the ecu out.
Yes also, which number is which color on the diagram you linked?

I assume the ECU retention frame is similar for the LHD cars to the right-hand drive ones.

It is very simple but non-obvious - I encountered this a few months ago. The two loom connector plugs need to be unlatched, but when you try to slide the ECU out it gets stuck on something in the housing.

@timmus performed a tutorial for ECU removal that I found essential.

note that although this clip is for the 1.6FSi (which is very slightly different to the other models) watching this enabled me to find the retaining tabs on my car to remove the ECU. Best of luck!

Final update on the cruise project.
It all works now and it was in hindsight it was pretty easy.

After I had connected everything and activated in the vagcom it did not seem to work at first. Turns out I hadn't found a suiting 12v for the stalk. Connected it to a source I know had constant 12v and still didn't seem to work, But It did. What threw me off was that there was no light in the dash telling me the cruise was "on". I'm used to BMW's so I just counted on it being a light telling me it was on. If someone could confirm this it would be great.

Back to the point. As previously mentioned it has no light but it works seemlessly. And the car has just become so much better.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out.

Morning Joakim,

Glad you found the Cruise Control retrofit a breeze, it’s not overly complicated being a 20+ year old model, well done. You’d be surprised how easy other retrofits are seeing as you obviously have knowledge of suitable tapping points with the electrical working diagram.

Nice looking A2, notice the 615 relay; I’m a fan of the headlamp washer bumper.

Kind regards,

Tom

is there something wrong with the relay or just the annoying OCD fact that it has the numbers the other way arond than the 612?

Hi Joakim,

Nothing wrong with the relay what so ever. It just suggests you have the rare headlamp washer bumper fitted opposed to the 602 standard relay. It was a thumbs up more than anything. Just studied your first picture and can clearly see you do indeed have the headlamp washer bumper fitted.

All is good Sir.

Kind regards,

Tom

Aha i see, does this mean i can do like the corvette owners do and ask a ridiculously high asking price since my car is super rare?:p
