DIY/aftermarket heated seat kit

I would love to get a pair installed in the back seats. Anyone ever tried that? I have the version with 2 seperate seats, I can imagine would make the job easier compared to the bench.

It would probably be quiet straight forward, just a case of running the wiring neatly and coming up with a good idea for the switches. It would be "very posh" tho :)

So, it all done and working. The second seat was much easier once I knew the ins and outs from the 1st seat I whizzed through it. I'm very happy with the kit and would recommend it tho honestly it could do with all 4 elements being maybe 5" longer and two of them being maybe 2-4 inches wider as you can see from the bottom cushion picture, but sitting on them they are absolutely fine, I've managed to put the pads in the places that all your bits touch :)

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing, myself! Honest! I have a complete set of "Waeco" MagicComfort MSH200 elements from my front seats. I have all the wiring and rotary controls, too. They give very good and uniform heating, because they

are of the advanced "mat" design. I would have fitted the controllers into the "B" pillar cover. That is an excellent position and is very neat and discrete. There are a couple of negatives as far as I'm concerned :- (1) I hardly ever carry any rear

passengers , and (2) We don't really have proper Winters here in the U.K.! (it's 14 degrees, today!)

If you'd like all this stuff to do your rear seats, I'd like £100 plus the cost to send it to you in Sweden ..... I paid a lot more for the kit, and it is in excellent, "as-new" condition.

Done. Now can relax over Christmas :)

That is a perfect place for the switches. Shame that the standard ones aren't put there by Audi that would make a lot more sense.

Well done.

Yes I think it's a good idea there, effortless to reach. just wish I never got stressed and rushed the cut out! The drivers one is about perfect but the passenger isn't! I wanted them to look exactly the same (positioning wise) and the passenger seat looks a bit creased but that was my 1st attempt, I know how to straighten it out but I'll live with it!

Just to add to an old thread the creases in the seat went after a week or to. Just needed bedding in from a bit of use :)

Scott,

After reading though this thread I have decided to purchase the same kit from eBay. I'm fairly confident with spanners but never taken seat covers off or played with wiring to any extreme. I really do like the location you put switches. Did you ever change the LEDs to red or have you kept them blue. I'd be wanting to swap them to red.

Could you let me know how you wired the kit in. Where did you take the ignition live from or did you use the constant live from the 12v socket. Any tips on removing the seat covers would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Tom

here is how I did it. I used aan A3 cable from image.png
Further I used original seats and a heatercontrol panel with heated seats controls. I routed the cable from the control panel to the fuse box along the driver's sill to the driver's seat a and finally the passenger's seat.
The constant live and switched live I got from the fuse box using:image.png. You need 2 different size to use in position 8 and 38. It looks like this:image.jpeg
The earth I took from the earth point below the A-pillar. The instrument light from behind the light switch pin17. The pleather seats I got through the the forum work a treat and look great but..... I did this last weekend and it got cold I was afraid to break the plastic bits and decided to start the car befor connecting any of the electrics. Reconnected the battery, stress the car, heated it, stopped the engine, disconnected the battery and Connected the cables and put the new seats in. Started the car, AIRBAG warning light! So do not reconnect the the battery before you put the seats back in and connect the air bag cables! So I am now looking for VAG com cable to reset my airbag light. The heated Seats work a treat but the light on the control buttons is bit dim, any ideas?

Jorrituk,

Does the fuse box cover still fit with the addition of the fuse taps.

Kind regards,

Tom
