Fault code 01314

New problem now- or maybe this is getting closer to it!!
Wife drove car few days ago and reported total loss of power and shaking engine. So I change throttle body and today it did the same. I stopped for a few mins and was able to drive home normally (5 min journey) This only happened after it was fully warmed up.
I haven't been able to get it to anyone else yet to do a proper scan but this what I got:

To date I've not made much progress apart from it all getting a bit worse.
The car started misfiring. So my mechanic changed main coil and no joy. Still misfired. Sorry can't give you the codes but will try and get them. He even swapped out the plugs and it still misfired but on different cylinders and then today it's not been doing it at all.

I changed the MAP sensor about a month ago with a non Audi part from Eurocarparts. Do I need to try a genuine Audi one?
So to clarify I'm still getting the ABS, Warning (!) and EPC lights on but it only comes on under acceleration and it's very consistent.
The other thing I've notice is a whissssh sound when changing gear (sounds like a dump valve those buy racers have)

Lastly the engine sounds like a diesel despite being petrol and I'm wondering if the whole problem is that the engine has had it's day and I need to replace it?

Any ideas? Anyone

You need to get a proper scan mate, then can sort it properly.

There is a lot of fault codes there. Could be dodgy wiring / loose connection somewhere

John

Here is a break down of all the fault codes:

DTC 16685, 16686,16687,16688. Misfire on cyl 1,2,3,4 respectively
Possible Causes
Ignition system
Fuel injectors
Fuel pressure
Running out of fuel
EVAP canister purge valve
Evaporative emission system
Low compression
Base engine problems
Controle Module damaged
Special Notes
This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

DTC: 16684 Random and multiple cylinder misfire detected
Possible Causes
Air Intake System leaking
Fuel Supply faulty
Injector(s) faulty
Ignition Cable(s) and/or Spark Plug(s) faulty
Ignition Coil(s) faulty
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) stuck/open
Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Misfire Recognition
Check Air Intake System
Check Fuel Supply
Check Injector(s) and Injector Sealing
Check Ignition Cable(s) and Spark Plug(s)
Check Ignition Coil(s)
Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18)
Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Special Notes
This DTC indicates that one or multiple cylinders are misfiring, but the ECU fails to identify the cylinder.

DTC: 17851 Potentiometer for EGR(G212) Signal too low
Check EGR system

DTC: 17848 EGR Valve N18 Power Stage Open Circuit

DTC: 17961 Barometric/manifold pressure signal ratio out of range

Misfires could be linked to dodgy injector wiring harness or any of the above listed to test really. Could be your ECU is playing up.

have you checked the earth points are not corroded or loose???.... so many errors would be either this or a failing ECU IMO

.. I did read on here somewhere someone fixing a misfire issue but redoing the engine bay earting point..

Many, many thanks guys for the info. where would we all be without this amazing forum.

I was reading last night about the earthing issue- behind one of the headlights I think and at the back of the car too?? Also thought about wiring to injectors, so passed this info on to my mechanic this morning.
The search continues. I'll let you know when I'm there.
Regards.

Fault Code 01314 + ABS/Traction COntrol and (!) - anybody fixed this?

Hi all, new to this forum and found it through desperation. I have an Audi A2 TDi SE with symptoms identical to those described by several in this and other forums discussing ECM.

The problem first occurred in June. The car ran lumpy and lit up, what I have read elsewhere described as "the deadly trio of ABS and Traction Control lights, along with the Red Warning light in the DIS." errors on the dash. Stopping, turning off the ignition and restarting cured it. I took it to an Audi approved garage who diagnosed the fault code as a 01314 (using version V19.01.00 14/09/2011 9.11.004). They suggested I would need to have a new ECM, get it coded and fitted and would see little change from £1400!

The issue however stopped as soon as it had started.

Until last week when the same symptoms re-emerged with a vengeance. It happens every time I start the car now, the juddering is more pronounced and continues until the car has warmed up. It then runs just fine - and I commute Brighton to Portsmouth daily.

All the threads I have viewed never seem to conclude...has anyone actually had their car fixed from this? Is it the ECU? Is it possible to get a second hand ECU from a breakers and get it fitted and coded? Am I damaging the car running it this way?

Any help would be much appreciated...I do not have money to throw at this problem - especially if there is no guarantee that work done will fix the fault...

Please help?

hello there, i Have the same problem with my 1.4 petrol, fault codes 01314, 17961... fault controls ABS, ASR and (!), found somebody solution of it? Thank you.

Hi, my problem is solved. When I get for first time fault code for MAP sensor, then I buy new, but low cost from china. Car was for few weeks OK, but after then fault codes goes back. Then I buy new MAP sensor - better (Germany manufactured). After change, again car goes well for few weeks, but again fault codes goes back. Now I buy third MAP sensor, but now original part Magneti Marrelli and for this time it looks fine, after change. I hope it will be ok. If fault codes goes back, I will write here. It looks like in my situation problem was with bad quality MAP sensors... Hope this helps.. and sorry for my english :)

Hi,

No need to apologise about your English, I am sure that we all fully understood what you were saying.

I hope that your problem is now resolved.

Good luck

We've had a similar set of problems over the last 6 weeks to all of these described above. I broke down on the motorway outside edinburgh - could turn engine over but it would fire. I opened the bonnet and twisted the injectors in case there was a bad fit/contact and it worked a treat. We then broke down on way to York and this time it didn't work. Garage in York replaced camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, various flanges and the clutch. It works now, no warning lights display but it cuts out at junctions. Starts again fine. Garage told us it's a coroded ECU. Do any of you know if there is an inexpensive way to repair a corroded ECU? It's either that or we buy a box of matches because this wee car, much as we love it, just costs the earth every time something goes wrong.

I'd like to know how they got to confirm a "corroded ECU". Is your passenger footwell compartment full of water?
Also, if you were suffering from a breakdown with the car unable to start, why did the garage replace the clutch?
I'd seriously consider a different garage - and post all of your issues here before doing anything rash with a set of matches!

.
I resume to this old post because I have a similar problem. This morning while I was driving my 1.4 petrol engine I lost power completely and the engine stalled.

At the same time the red brake light started flashing in FIS and the buzzer started to sound. I've turned off the key and turn it on right away and the engine starts smoothly while the car was still running.

As soon as I got home I did a VCDS scan and found error 01314 in the 03 ABS control unit.

I checked on Elsa what to do for error 01314 and the manual says to check for ECU 01 errors.

But on the control unit no errors. Very strange situation. Do you have any idea?

I attach photos of the VCDS scan
