Gremlins!

Just scanned and the only fault stored is Pax front door wont desafe. What does that mean?

It could mean:
* Microswitch on the lock is faulty (most likely)
* A problem with the door loom, for example a connector incorrectly assembled (only likely if it has been worked on)
* An earth fault on that circuit (copper and alu don't mix in the long run, so often the earth straps go bad)

Pretty sure it won't be the CCCU.

ok, i'll add my cars foibles All the doors won't lock unless the drivers door is the last one shut, (it does work as it should so long as the int. light has not gone out) this has been the same for more than 4 years, recently the front windows have changed sides on the switches ie the drivers switch works the passenger window the passengers works the drivers :) must see what a scan says about that ....

Looks like, after further investigation, I have several, unrelated and purely co-incidental issues!

1. interior light cluster odd behaviour was a faulty interior rear light cluster. Replaced with a new one and it's all working fine
2. one-shot up/down function on rear electric windows was door frame alignment/sticky runners/dirty windows. Re-aligned and lubed runners and cleaned windows, all working fine
3. door not locking is actually a failed door lock. At least it's failed in the unlocked position so that entry and exit is still possible. The alternative failure mode sees the door being effectively sealed shut by an unlockable lock which requires surgery to the chassis to cut the striking plate out - yikes. Unfortunately A2 door locks are on back-order with Audi so I await a replacement. But people with intermittent door locking should probably start considering getting the lock modules replaced before they fail completely.
