Check out my thread on car insurance.

Sign up to www.quidco.com make sure you are signed in and search through the insurance companies(i recomend prudential) get a quote, buy and receive cashback.

I received my £100 cashback last month so my insurance was £220 fully comp after the cashback.

I think it has now gone upto £130 cashback. :)

I'm having trouble getting insurance quotes for ur A2 as none of the companies recognise a 2003 90bhp tdi they only have them from 2004??.
They keep putting it down as a 75bhp which it is not.
Anyone else get this problem?.

Have a look at the visible VIN number on the windscreen - it should read:

WAUZZZ8Z?N??????

THe number between the Z and N is the model year identifier and it's my bet that it'll be 4.

If so, don't worry about the insurers, tell them it is a 2004 car and then give them the reg number. There's nothing to say you can't make a car appear older than it really is.

CHeers,

Mike

Skipton there are two numbers between the Z and N they are 24 !!??.
Ollie was registered 2 dec 03.
All the bleeding insurers only list the 90 bhp as 2004!!??.

Yes, sorry, the first digit is just a filler, a bit like the '0' and '5' in the UK reg plates at the moment.

As I thought, your car is a 2004 model year (hence the 4), so don't worry about the insurers.

I had a similar problem with my old Fiat Punto - apparently a 55SX didn't exist in 1998!! I even had a heck of a job to get Audi to take it as PX for The Little Tank as they were very suspicious of it.

Cheers,

Mike

No - it's a 2004 MODEL YEAR.

Model years run from about August to August, for example, Tank is a '54' reg (October 2004) car, but is actually a 2005 model year (WAUZZZ8Z15N??????). There's no particular rhyme or reason for it, but there again, why am I reading the June edition of PC Pro magazine in April!?!?!?

Cheers,

Mike
