Is there a light 16" wheel?

I have Pepperpots fitted to my car and appreciate the benefits of lower unsprung weight etc. but I can't help feeling that the 15" rims with 175/60s look a little lost in the wheelarches.

Is there a factory 5x100 16" wheel option that would have a little more visual presence but retain the pepperpot virtue of light weight (for their size)?

I know the 17" TT Comps are forged and relatively light but I'm trying to be a little sensible re sidewall height and ride comfort.

@George Hogg has recently fitted some 16’ ‘pepperpots’ (not sure on weight) and I run these lightweight A8 wheels which are 16’

both are 112 x 5 rather than 100 x 5 so require adapters.

They're so light, almost floating......... 😁

Including brand new tyres in size 195/50-16 they will put a little over 14kg on the scales.
You can drill them to 5X100 easy since they're forged, strong and have a flat mounting surface, so you don't have to bother with (heavy) adapters.

175/60R15 does look a bit narrow on the 6Jx15 ET38 pepperpots.

Perhaps try 185/60R15 or 195/55R15 instead.

The 195/55R15 should really help the appearance, and the standard rim width for this tyre size is 6J...hence it's in bold in the chart below.

ETRTO approved rim widths
175/60R15 5.0-5.0-6.0
185/60R15 5.0-5.5-6.5
195/55R15 5.5-6.0-7.0

Thanks for all the posts.

The 16" pepperpots look great but would require adapters which wipes out any benefit from their relatively light weight.

The A8 wheels could be machined for use without adaptors.

Both of these options would be fairly pricey compared to just buying four new tyres in either 185/60/15 or 195/55/15 for my existing pepperpots. This wouldn't have the visual impact of bigger rims but would still look better than the current pram tyres.

Food for thought!

Hi, adapters are not that heavy, the ones I use are alloy with thread inserts. A 16” pepperpot and adapter are way lighter than some A2 wheels
I’ll weigh an adapter tomorrow

15mm adaptor and five bolts, obvs a 20mm adapter is a little more but the only ones I have are on cars…

Remember that it’s an adapter that needs bolted to the hub and then the wheel bolted to the adapter. Lighter bolts are available, these are what was handy. As the 16” pepperpots are around 8.5 kg fitted that’s still a lot lighter than some wheels fitted to A2”s eg the sports 17”s. But heavier than 15” pepperpots or the forged 15” spoked wheels. It’s a choice aren’t we lucky?
