K & N Air Filter

Anyone else notice they can hear the turbo sucking in air more with the K&N filter, especially when it spools up to full boost you can hear it singing to itself more now?

You will find its due to the remap + the K&N as i didn't notice it when i just did the filter 2 weeks before remap, then after remap wow i've got turbo whistle :D

Yeah.. Maybe I should have stated in my last post that I had both the remap and the K&N done at the same time. It seems like having both done makes the noise more noticeable. Anyone noticed extra noise after just a remap and NO K&N?

Its a good little set that! I need to get their ratchet ring spanner set too theyre highly useful and again the quality is good for the price!

sorry to revive this old thread but i have a quick question about these K&N filters,

do they increase air flow (and so performance) by having bigger gaps in to let more air in and consequently bigger bits of 'stuff' ... which means more stuff ends up in the oil so more engine wear thus shortening the life of your engine / making you need to change the oil more often?

cheers

No!

They work by letting more air through - that bit is true. However, they filter effectively and don't clog up like normal filters do. A standard paper filter will filter too effectively really, and after a few months, it'll actually restrict airflow.

Don't worry about stuff getting through - K&N are the filter of choice for most vehicles taking part in the Paris-Dakar rally!

Cheers,

Mike
