Key Fob

Hi, bought my first A2 today, an 01 in Dolphin Grey. The previous owner lost the key fob in a boating accident and hence just had the spare second key without the central locking. I spoke to Audi Stockport today and they suggested I needed two fobs to now get the central locking to work at a cost of £330. Does anyone know of a workaround? Thanks for your help,

Hi

That is just an emergency key.

Do when you get the other CCCU and matching keys you will not only need new metal key blades but you will need them to be specially coded to your immobiliser.

Getting the new key blade should be easy enough. A branch of Timpsoms etc would be able to cut it.
There are even sellers on eBay that will cut you new blades if you send them a photo of your current key.
So get the blades cut now and see if you can get someone to code the immobiliser for you.
If you attend the Duxford social later this month and bring the new CCCU and keys (and your new key blades, I can program the immobiliser for you. (No charge of course)

Thanks Steve,

Apologies for the slow response. Really appreciate the advice - unfortunately I can't make the social but I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again,

Ian

Is there anyone in Suffolk who has full VCDS please? I am just about to buy a new key on eBay and get it cut but would rather pay a member in beer than Ipswich Audi £35 (although that really isn't too bad - cheaper than a locksmith).

Hi John,

Thanks for the offer. I've posted another question for Matt's expertise - depending on what I need do you have both parts of the fob? Do you also have VCDS? I'm based in Stockport so was hoping to not have to go too far if possible!

Many thanks,

Ian

Only just seen this sorry. As of this minute I still have the key yes, and VCDS. I've never programmed a key but would be more than willing to have a go.

However, I do think someone interested in the key is likely to buy it today.

You can program the remote operation with VCDS but you cannot set up the immobiliser without the login code for the instrument cluster and that needs a different cable and software to obtain that code, only when you have that code can you program a new immobiliser chip.
