Kimbolton Country Fayre-in Cambridshire.

I think an A2OC continental road trip would be a great adventure!

I'm swerving a bit here although still on the subject of socials. There were European road trips in the past led by Robin and Ian ( driveforward) the latter one of our former social secretary. It's a potential for the future.

Another great adventure I've ambitions for is Applecross in Scotland. Amongst the best driving experience and fabulous scenery I've ever seen ( aye I'm a biased sweaty sock) -- My avatar is the road to Applecross.

This sparks the debate about assisting Vonnie and Sumo with regional meetings should there be demand and willingness. Conrad and Hillary have volunteered to arrange the Northern meet. I've arranged a Scottish social a few years back and would gladly do another.
Timmus has spoken about an adventure in the lake district.

It's all doable if the will and support was there. Be aware it's a lot of work to get a social event up and running. Credit to Mike and Von for what they do for the club it's no easy.

Provided they retain some control over the social calendar and can advise any regional ambitions there's plenty scope for events. Whether they're a simple meet at a greasy spoon somewhere or a more elaborate plan.

only boundary being the amount of interest shown and the finite hours in the day. ;)

I'd echo that comment Murdo!
Yvonne and Mike do a Stirling job in organising these events and it can't be easy to keep all of us rabble together!
BTW Murdo did you notice the Scottish swerve in this post lol!
Cheers Jeff

Continental road trips take a fair bit of planning but can work out cheaper than the ones offered by specialist companies.
This year is our second year driving to Switzerland via Ingolstadt last year and Neckarsulm this year. Need to find another factory tour for next year.
My best practice is to drive for 4 hours between stopovers. It takes a lot more concentration than you think...above all it needs to be enjoyable not stressful.

This gadget is useful too:

Hi ladies and gents it's only one month till this fantastic looking show takes place in the the grounds of kimbolton castle. I have just been informed that we will be part of over 800 classic and performance cars on show. There is also going to be a fly past performed by a spitfire-who doesn't like the sound of a spitfire overhead (no answer needed). The ticket price is £10 and I believe this is going to a charity. So please if you want to join us with your a2 on the club pitch please add your name to the calendar link below. Cheers Mike and vonnie

I hope that there is a good turnout of members cars, unfortunately I won't be able to attend, I have a prior engagement!

The guy who painted the project asked me last year if I could attend a show with him and some of the cars he has painted.

So have a great time everyone, see you at the next show.

My wife and son are going, also my parents , my brother and his 2 kids . Sounds like a great day out. My wife and son and me will be in the A2 .

From previous years i recall it being per car, and some years I think club display cars were free but we always made a donation of the entry fee. Obviously things may have changed.

Edit. Sorry I replied to an old post. Didn't see Mike's

A change of work schedule means I'll now be able to attend. Looking forward to seeing everyone. :)

As usual, my car will be in two-seater van mode, full of tools and covered in motorway grot.

Cheers,

Tom

Looking forward to Kimbolton weekend and hope the weathers on our side!
Had a good friend help sort out my social template to put on my dashboard at the weekend, with all the details of the car and mods etc! Really great idea and wish I'd have done it for the A2 cars day, its really useful to put people to there cars and forum names!
I'd highly recommend doing it!
Cheers Jeff

I'm looking forward to this, I have the whole week off recovering from the British Grand Prix. What time and where is everyone meeting on the Sunday ?

Hi all you A2 fans--just a few days to go till the kimbolton show. Show cars are now looking like 800-900 plus all the other attractions-i'm looking forward to the fly past.

So we all need to meet up before going into the show as i have passes to give to each car on the stand so i need you all to get to the meeting point to leave at 9.10am on the sunday morning. We have located a McDonalds on the GREAT NORTH ROAD, BRAMPTON, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, PE28 4NQ

IF YOU DON'T OR CANT GET THERE FOR 9.00AM PLEASE CALL ME--SO PM ME IF YOU NEED MY NUMBER. No cars will be able to park on our stand without the pre numbered passes but one of us will walk back to the entrance if needed.
We will be able to use the show car entrance so speeding up entry. If i can ask for some help putting the gazebos up-just to keep the sun off you understand ! Please bring seats/blankets with you and a mug if you prefer a proper mug to paper cups as we will be offering tea and coffee. We won't be offering food at this show but we are close to catering so I'm sure we won't go hungry. Really looking forward to seeing you all and all the attractions they are offering-i'm hoping the sporting bears car club have there collection of exotic cars inc the koenigsegg if only i could fit in it.

Any questions just ask. Cheers mike and vonnie
