Leather seats.

I think it's a little hopeful that you will find a set of leather sports seats for £275 in good condition.

I paid a LOT more for the car I am breaking than the cost of a leather interior. It would be great if you could buy a car with leather for the price of a leather interior but that's sadly not the case.

It is possible but car likely to be Cat D or Cat C damage - try Motorhog or similar auctions. If not written off / Cat X then yes prices more like autotrader non runners.

Does anybody know why the traders have such odd pricings, £869.99, 789.99 etc. Why not a nice round number? Perhaps my OCD is showing a bit here!

It is because the price the seller has quoted is in a different currency.

For example if you see things advertised fro a seller in america, or someone who is selling in Euros and you look at the item in the UK, the price you will see has been converted to your currency.

When you see it again, just look at the country of the seller and you will probably see they use a different currency in that country.

But some people advertise things at 699.99 because it sounds less that 700 (which it is, of course, by a penny.)

Ok i get the point about overseas sellers but the main thrust of my comment concerned our friends in Cambridge and the Black country.

I still suggest the the price of leather seats is declining; another popular member has just reduced the pricie of a very nice set of leathers, and i picked up a set of leather/ alcantra sports after a cheeky bid!

However I still seem unable to flush out a set of sport leather twist seats!!!

Sport leather twist, what colour is that, please?

Cream/tan/beige depending on your eyesight and willingness to argue about it. To me it's cream.

Pretty rare beast twist leather seats. I pursued and missed out on a 90 Sport with this trim in 2008. Glad I did miss out to be honest. Lovely car but over 2k more than I bought my car for. It was very pretty though

Yes but which came first the chicken or the egg? Would I have reduced it had this thread not been posted? The A2 scene is ever evolving and very much influenced by the content of this forum.

My wife's 90 has the heated Twist SE leather with a bench rear seat.

The only problem is that it seems to be a "muck magnet", moreso than platinum even, for some reason.

Two sets of leather seats on German ebay priced €1200 each, I think the same seller offered them for €800 a few months ago...

Don't reduce then Steve. Are you feeling pressured to do so by commenting on the influence of this thread / the forum. They look like nice seats you've got on offer so unless you're getting zero interest and need the space I'd hang it out. You're not asking unfair money by any stretch. And as discussed A2 leather definitely commands a premium compared to some other models.

Not pressured but when a thread with multiple posts all agree that the price of leather is coming down then tou've got to match expectation if you wish to sell.

It is completely my choice to reduce them and have no issue at that price.

The point I was making (if a little cryptically) was that this club has more power to control and set the prices of parts than we may think. We are the majority of the market and therefore if we refuse to pay extortionate prices then they will have to come down.

Part Quote from A2steve!

I
wonder what percentage of UK A2 owners are on the forum? I would agree that if "we" as a club refuse to pay extorionate prices then commercial prices would fall. However our friends in Cambridge and the Black coutry still advertise prices that are, IMO, extortionate. There are well documented used items turning up on a certain site that are MORE expensive the new items from Audi.
Ebay is definitely a caveat emptor site, and finally as with all things, any item is worth what someone will pay for it!

Percentage wise probably 10% of all UK A2 owners are members?

Active members who participate regularly or visit regularly, maybe 2.5%?

But in terms of the percentage of owners who are looking to modify and improve their A2's in the UK, probably a much higher percentage in the club.

I think the prices and offers should be discussed in private, between a seller and a potential buyer.

not a good approach for the marketplace as a bidding war would begin behind closed doors, thats if the seller should not reply within a timely manner!
damned if you do, damned if you dont :(

100% in my village :)

When it comes to bidding, I agree, of course, but as I understood, it wasn't a bidding war, or buying offers, it was questioning the sellers price, without intention to buy.

I am increasing the price of my complete platinum leather interior from £650 to £700 ... It is completely my choice to do so ...

Not to dredge up an old post but it seems that everyone has had these conversations before I came to the site.

I am keenly looking for replacement leather seats for my A2 but am on a budget and can't really store the twist cloth seats I currently have.

The current seats are perfectly fine but they need cleaned every few months to avoid water spots and I have a three year old! After the last week of sitting on a towel and bin bag for my commute looking at a forest of dehumidifier tubs I decided I can't go through another valet!

How have things progressed in the last year for this market? Everything I see on the Bay is from sellers with very definitely high prices.

Ps. What do people usually do with their old seats when they replace them? Do they fold well for storage?

When I can get hold of them I usually sell SE seats for around £300 and sports for between £300 and £500 depending on spec.

Old cloth seats generally aren't worth anything unless they are black and then its less than £50.
