Noob question about vw 506.01 spec oil

Recently got the A2 and want to get some oil. Read the manual and it states for the longlife service intervals to get 506.01 spec oil. Whent to Halfords today (admitedly a small one), and the assistant and i couldnt find any with this listed. Lots of 5w30 (which i think it is??), but none specifically 506.01.

What am i supposed to buy??

I think if you check out the Opie oil site, that will help you. I have just used Mobil 1 5-w 30 ESP.

The latest spec (which supercedes 506.01) is 507.00 and 5w30 is the correct grade. More info here -
