P01423 g200 57-00 lateral acceleration

Good evening!

51 plate amf tdi se

Looking to save a tdi from being broken, it has two faults on vcds scan, results attached below.

Is this an mk20 abs unit?

Sounds like wire break or comms break between g200 sensor and the abs module perhaps.
Previous owner had known working lat accel sensor replaced, and fault came back after a day.

I cleared the code and it came back without even having the engine on or moving.

Abs yellow ring flashing on dash, power steering off flashing steering wheel yellow.

Does a newly fitted lateral acceleration sensor need adaptation via vcds to get it running correctly? I can't be sure this was done.

Also engine map is unknown, I don't know if its been touched but looks.like 002 rather than 001 on one screen shot is this an indication?

Thanks!

It shouldn’t be showing that error code at least. Do you have a multi meter/voltmeter, I can help you check the wiring, takes at most 10 minutes if the sensor is already accessible.

Thank you I'll dig it out of the centre console soon and see what's occurring.
Could it be broken solder inside the sensor?

OK so got the dual sensor block out, see pic. Wires look virginal to the eye. How do I test these then with a multimeter? @a-zwo
Thanks.

I did scan with both unplugged and now only yaw rate g202 came up with electrical circuit fault.
So this would suggest yaw is OK it's just lateral sensor required.

Found this thabks to @2work from an earlier thread. So could check wires if

needs be.

Okay, so multimeter on volts, ignition on, black wire on the bare aluminium of the dash support, measure with the red wire each of the 3 wires that go to the sensor, at least one should be 5 volts.

If so, ignition off, switch meter to resistance mode. Keep the black wire on the dash measure each wire. One of them should read very close to/0 ohms.

Now, if you turn the ignition back on, switch back to voltage and measure between those two wires, you can confirm you have 5 volts to sensor

With both unplugged, I'd expect both sensor to show an error, most likely "Open Circuit"
Is you VCDS registered Lite, Full VCDS, or Free Lite?
Mac.

Just lite sadly.

Right, so pin 3 has 4.99v on both of the connector blocks so power is being fed.
However I see damage to insulation on one wire that goes to the lateral accelerator plug.

Yellow red pin 3
Yellow pink pin 1

Looks like they've been pinched under a bolt. I think there's enought wire for me to re solder a length in there. Very tight spot for a solder!
I'll try a replacement sensor first as that's easiest before I chop a wire, it may be okay if I just insulate it?

Hi,
I separated the wires and plugged the sensors back in, hey presto no lights or beeps on dash. I think they were squashed and touching\shorting. I'll tape them up individually to insulated as they aren't broken just exposed.
I'll then factory loom them.

Hopefully job done.

Having now driven it around the block, I can confirm it is fine, so problem solved no more abs lights!
