Project Madrid (2002 FSI)

Forgot to mention : the tyre fitter had never seen an A2 in his life and said it “looks like an electric”. He nearly dropped his tools when I told him they’ve been rolling around since ‘99. 😂

That's working rather well isn't it :) I wasn't sure at first but now that look with the black top half over silver including the sills, on the TT comps is absolutely rocking. Well done! 👍

Stunning looking A2. Really like the gloss black on the roof line
Only thing I’m unsure about is the black rub strips on the door bottoms I went for the colour coded sill covers and bumpers and also colour coded the door bottom rubber strips

I then decided it was too much silver and added gloss black mirror covers and door handles and the really sets the silver off nicely

Cheers Paul,

Where can we see photos of your A2? Also I’ll be needing another one of your LHD wiper covers - UPS lost the last one!! 😡

Rear window tints done - thanks again for the suggestion @A2Steve :

Will sort the missing wheel caps and nuts soon.

Cheers Mac. For me they work well because the mk1 TT and the A2 have the same ‘design language’ in contrast to some of the A1 wheels for example which are more ‘edgy’ so sometimes don’t match up so well design wise (only my opinion of course).
Yes I agree, they look very ‘right’ on an A2, also look good on a GTI mk1 I saw them on once. A couple on the market at the moment. This is a great looking car

Evening Stuart,

Those wheels really do look brilliant, suit the car perfectly. I like them that much I might purchase a set for a future project. Maybe you could adapt some B pillar exterior ASR badges into wheel caps.

Kind regards,

Tom

Cheers Birty. By coincidence the owner of the window tinting place showed me his awesome MK1 Golf convertible today - looked great on the ‘period correct’ BBS’s.

Cheers Tom - they can get pricey because they almost certainly won’t come with the right tyres for the A2 and due to their age it’s most likely they’ll need a refurb (as these ones did).

Alternative idea - Come over to Madrid in the Japier Red, and I’ll swap you for the A8’s on a long term international loan.😉

Great idea on the Space frame badges - I’ll have a look but I suspect the badges are too big.

Evening Stuart,

Maybe something we can arrange in the future Sir. Your car looks awesome by the way.

Kind regards,

Tom
