Thanks guys.. I better ad some information to clear things up..
My actual fuel consumption has not changed after the remap, its only the DIS computer that's being way to optimistic now, indicating that its now using a lot less fuel then is actually the case. Its doing around 22-23 km/l, which is my normal, but DIS says its doing 28-29 km/l.?
My car is a 75hp and I had the remap done by a guy who is renowned to be a bit of a guru on VAG diesel cars, and besically the best here in DK to do a custom remap on VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat cars. I choose him because I wanted the best possible engine map. He did a base run on his rolling road which came up with 79 hp, 210 NM of torque and a very smooth power curve, which indicated a very healthy running engine.
He said beforehand that he should be able to achieve 25-30% more power compared to base numbers, but at the end of the day he ended up with 97 hp and 241 NM torque. So that's just under 15% increase in torque, but he said he couldn't really squeeze more out of it because the engine software didn't like it, and perhaps also partly due to clogged intake from the EGR.
He did say that the engine software in my A2 was different than what he had seen before, and it was typically Audi to make their own specific software rather then using the one from VW or Skoda. When asked he said that he had remapped A2's before, but only the 1.2 TDI, and also the 1.4 TDI engine, but only in VW and Skoda cars with different software. So he had to spend some time to make a base map for my car. And when fine tuning the map on the rolling road he also said that this software did not like being tampered with, and in the end he had to settle with the above mentioned numbers.
I did however, also ask him if he could increase the throttle response as I found it a bit dull as standard, which he did. And I guess its because of this that my DIS fuel computer has now lost its accuracy, since nobody else with a remap has this problem....?!?
I also had him delete the EGR valve, as well as having the option to swap between 3 different engine maps via VCDS. The optimized map, a complete stock map and finally a stock map with a rev limit of 4500 rpm for when the car goes in for inspection and emission control.
What before and after power numbers do you guys with a remapped car have.? Or asked in another way, what power increase in percentage did you achieve.?
Alex.
