Rattle behind back bumper

For a few weeks now I thought this was heatshields, then exhaust, but it it was still there after some spirited heat shield resecuring and a new exhaust.
So I finally found that bumping the rear bumper with the heel of my hand makes the noise.
It sounds like it’s right behind the black “rubbing strip”.
Any thoughts as to what it might be before I haul the bumper off?

Cheers!

George

When I had a similar noise a few years ago it was the rear crash beam. The bolts had backed off a little and the mounting holes in the beam worn oval. Removed the bolts one at a time and fitted large washers and centralised the beam as the bolts were retorqued.

If you take the bumper off ideal time to reseal the air extraction vents.

It sounds “lightweight” so the crash beam sounds a likely culprit. The bumper was off for a respray so perhaps it was disturbed then.
Today I noticed the start of the noise on another!
I really appreciate your advice. Thank you again!

I thought I’d written a close out on this(?). It was indeed the rear bumper bar, one side was nice and tight and the other very slightly slack….it didn’t even tighten 1/3 of a turn.
Annoying rattle gone and both vents prophylatically resealed thank you @audifan Graham
