Rattle from rear suspension

I did consider doing the same as for just a piece of plastic it does rattle one heck of a lot and being kerb side doesn't help. I thought I would do the cable tie option to help keep the shock ab clean?

I've been really busy at moment as I'm building a t5 camper but still got annoying noise on rear n/s I removed shocker and double and triple checked top mount and removed top nut fitted a washer underneath to make sure no free play between nut and top mount which is brand new and also shocker fitting kit and shocker brand new still got the rattle over rough surfaces and not speed bumps
I also completely took out rear seats and parcel shelf unit but still there

Thinking heads on people anything else ???

Does the a2 suffer from anything else like boot lid rattles

I am beginning to think that the lower section of my tailgate (the part to which the number plate attaches) may be loose at one side. Haven’t got around to doing anything about it.

Check heat shields.
Due to age of our cars the fixings corrode and heatshields start rattling.
These of ebay will the best to fix if they are loose.

I had a rattle a couple of months ago from the rear nearside and it did eventually disappear however I had an mot today and it failed on a nearside broken rear coil spring on the side of the mysterious rattle.

Pays to check it out throughly at the time.:)

Hi
If it is a high pitch metallic clancking sound could be a loose bumper (inner bar). Mine is clancking since bumper was replaced, bolts obviously not done up but still safe within its brackets.(i think)
A suspension noise more likely to be lower pitch cloncking.
Just turn up the stereo ;)

It's a rattle over rough surfaces

sorry to ask this but are you 100% sure it is from the rear? It can be deceptive.

The sumptoms you are describing are extremely similar to the front drop links. They only rattle over rough surfaces or when both wheels are hitting different bumps.
The drop links are connected to the anti roll bar and so only get any real stress when the wheels are being compressed at different levels. Hitting a speed bump straight on might not cause a rattle because both wheels are being compressed equally.

If it is definitely the rear (not doubting you) then is the battery compartment free of any lose tools stray bolts etc?

I still think rear bumper. My wife's has been rattling for 7 years, only discovered what it was this summer. Smooth bumps not a problem, rough surfaces v annoying.
Good luck
