Rear door not locking

I took my rear lock mechanism out this evening to see if I could sort it out.
The door wasn't locking, and VCDS was showing:
1561 - Left Rear Door
61-00 - Won't De-Safe

I dismantled the electronics side of the lock and checked all the microswitches for continuity - all was fine, but I reflowed the solder anyway just to be sure.
When I refitted the lock the fault was gone, but the door still isn't locking. I can hear the lock clicking when the key is pressed.

Any ideas on what to try next?
It's a manual window, so no door controller.

Check the B pillar wiring plug / socket for corrosion or damaged wiring. Clean and refit. I had a similar issue that turned out to be the retaining tongue on the plug was broken allowing the plug to flex and break contact.

Success! I got there in the end. Seems I'd probably fixed the electrical fault last night but messed up when reconnecting the electrical half to the mechanical half of the lock. The lock/unlock mechanism wasn't seated correctly. All sorted now.
