Removal of panels in dashboard

1. No idea, what's your level of experience with Audi or automotive panel removal? Do you have small hands (which helps)?
2. For UK A2s, yes because we needed to remove the whole dash (4hr+). For LHD, it seems much easier as you can see the posts from mclaine
3. Get a copy of ElsaWin, which should show you the location of the clips and you undo them one by one with care.

What i would say is though, are you sure the sensor is really at fault? I had the same fault code reported and the sensor was not at fault, it was the air-conditioning compressor.

Thanks for reply humps.
I have not small hands :D
Mine car has left drive... so should be easier?
I don't really know, my audi garage says that the sensor has to be changed
The rest seems ok.
My climatronic runs properly when the car is moving or when it's cold outside.
During summer when the car is stopping to a traffic light it sends hot air but for exemple during summer if i run over 30/40 Km/h and the air is sufficient to cool the radiator the climatronic sends cold air!!!
Probably the compressor goes in protected mode and does not run at full speed.

Since your's in LHD, and the sensor is cheap itself, I would recommend giving it a go. The photos on the thread shows roughly where it is and what it looks like. I'm afraid I drive a RHD A2 so I have no idea exactly how to reach that sensor from the other side.

So it doesn't look like 300 euros worth of work if you follow the pictures on the thread, (some lower panels and reach towards the center) and the sensor itself is only about 20 euros. I need a good reason for 280 euros' worth of labour charge.

The garage tells you to change because the 'computer said so'? Did you ask them if they have checked there is enough refrigerant in the circuit?

Exactly! There is an error by vag.
I check the level of refrigerant by my self and it is ok.
I tought that could be the refrigerant gas that was exhausted, but the audi garage didn't mention it.
I'll order the sensor and i'll try to change by myself.
Hoping that it is the problem!

6Q0 907 543 check with your dealer, there is single character at the end [A,B,C,D...] to indicate the version so you may find a newer one than mine, 'D'.

Just to post my experience in this post too:

During summer i changed the sensor g263 and my climate works fine now!
I followed the wiki i found in this fantastic forum and spent only 20 €!
I saved so more than 600 € that my audi garage asked me!

Can you put a short description on you changing the G263 sensor? I also have LHD and this would help a lot. Thx.

Another questions: what are the symptoms of failed G263 sensor? Mine AAC works perfect (as far as I know ;)), so should I change it immediately or can I wait?

Through VCDS I get the following fault:
00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus

I don't know what temperature is like in your area right now, but the above fault code should trigger a limited capacity on the air conditioning circuit. This means if you're not in a hot climate, you probably won't notice the difference as the outside temperature doesn't warrant the system to exceed the limited capacity. You can probably wait until it is warm. But you can also test the sensor itself using wiring from the back of the climate unit, refer to ElsaWin for wiring and what reading you should expect at your ambient temperature.
