Service Offered: Colour DIS

I too would be interested in hearing when more info is available. This looks AMAZING! I wonder if we can rig it to play snake too...

Apparently it can lower your passenger side mirror when you engage reverse gear too.

Which if true, is a nice little option that I find useful on other cars that have this.

Mirror Dipping is reliant on the control modules in the doors and therefore isn't available (AFAIK) on any A2, I believe it is emulated on the new DIS display and does not operate in the 'memorised position' way that VAG does it but instead uses a relative position from a known fixed point (e.g 3 steps left, then 2 steps down etc..)

Ah, that would be another reason for upgrading then ... Tom ... no rush ;)
 
Hi Tom. Looks a great upgrade over the red colour dis display. Does it also display audio/radio station info from the concert head unit. As i currently use this function more than ever due to the installation of a cd/usb unit to browse through album, track titles etc.

Hi David,

It's still in the pipeline. I had to put development on hold whilst I finished the behemoth project known as TDI120: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?32986

I also had two multifunction steering wheel projects to complete, both of which are yet to be written/published. I then went to Spain for a fortnight. I'm now back in the UK and am juggling a few things, but my attention will be returned to the Colour DIS project very shortly. In the context of A2s, it's next on the list.

Hello Tom,

I cannot wait to have a colour DIS installed. It looks great although Ill have to then look for a double DIN dash to get fit a RNS-E to get maximum benefit of the colour display......Does the list of jobs ever end.

You might need at least a 2DIN cage coming from an A2 with a Symphony/RNS-D. Besides, somebody has to remove the dash out of your car and adjust it for the cage.

... When the work is done, you will like it;-)

It is and according to Vadzim who supplied mine a few months back, it can even be set to dip the passenger mirror when you engage reverse? I am not sure how it can do that or how it "knows" the position of the mirror, but it really does sound like a great mod.

Well, there are no positioning sensors so one will have to re-adjust the external view mirror after some parking sequences.
