I have recently bought an A2, and it came with an old aftermarket stereo, i am looking at upgrades and would like a stereo with a screen so that i can see waze/spotify and have android auto/ apple carplay. I am not yet ready to break out the dremel and convert to a Dubble DIN, so im looking at SIngle DIN options. Do any of you have any expirience with it? what have been your setup?

ive made a list of options that i found on amazon but i dont know if any of them are good, https://www.amazon.se/hz/wishlist/ls/3OURR96DQKI0O?ref_=wl_share'

For one horrifying moment I thought they were in £s

I bought this Single Din Car Stereo with Apple... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BQBWYDSP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share but returned it as

1. It just didn’t look right, it covered the hazard switch and cup holders (not that I use the cup holders!)

2. It only lasted a couple of days before the display gave out!

3. I had a spare blaupunkt that looks oem and works well for streaming and voice calls/nav

That Madrid really does look almost like an OEM unit @Cenick !
Did your car already have a switched live source originating from the fuse box or somewhere else ?

I attempted to fit an aftermarket Pioneer last winter but gave up when the loom adaptor I had purchased from Connects 2 didn't turn out to be "plug and play" !

Might have another go in the next few weeks ....as the volume control is shot on my Concert II unit.

We have Apple CarPlay in our other car which I like a lot. I settle for Bluetooth over the OEM Chorus unit with the phone mounted in the cup holder for the A2.

Personally if I was going to go for a unit with CarPlay I would look at mounting a unit like this one in the hyperlink below in the best way possible on top of the dash, as anything down in the current stereo location is too low to look down at.

It's got, (the Madrid), a built in mic, for hands free too.

Just looked on the Blaupunkt website. They have reissued the Frankfurt, and updated it to has SD, USB & bluetooth. But looks just like it used to. £350ish. And I am very tempted :)

Something like this. Read the description for more info about additional connections though.
