Great news Cammy. Its a family day out so that's sound you're bringing the wee fella. I'd have brought Kitty along as she loves cars but it's no practical when I'm staying up in Glasgow the previous night and there's quite a bit of running around to do as I have some VIPs to pick up from the airport .:p

Shaping up to be a great weekend . I can't wait !

I am really looking forward to this, not only to meet everyone but what a venue.

The museum looks to be very interesting

But the trip to Luss is a highlight for me, just look at these pictures and I bet it is breathtaking to see it for real,

Look forward to meeting the man who grabbed almost all of my for sale items in record time a year or so a go.

Best regards Cammy.

lol yeah, I was lucky that night. I'm glad that i hold some sort of record on the forum rather than me being remembered for my abusive attitude :p

I hope we have the weather for it, looking forward to the museum :)

Lovely pictures Steve. All being well and weather permitting we will have the option of an early afternoon cruise to Luss which is 40 minutes drive from the museum. It'll depend on attendees travel time home etc and I'm aware a couple of people have flights with an early evening check in. It's very do-able though.

The last pictures show ' The lodge on Loch Lomond ' . A nice hotel in a beautiful setting which we've stayed in a few times. Ooh - ideas for a future social - stay at the Lodge then cruise the A83 over the 'rest and be thankful' into Argyll. ;)

Hope we've got a budding photographer or two attending the social so we can capture some of the days scenes. See you soon folks.

Final weekly bump for the Scottish social. Looking forward to next Sunday 7th May from 1030am. Hoping for a great family meet with lots of good cheer and A2 chat. If you fancy joining us please add your name to the calendar link on the opening post.

Directions to the event are in James (mrbroons) post above .

Right, that's me signed up! Very much looking forward to seeing familiar faces and shaking hands with those I've not met before. It's looking like we'll have a grand day out.

I'm already signed up to do a few retrofits for Mr Broons and am also doing a CCCU replacement on the day of the social itself. Are there any other requests? See my signature in red at the bottom of this post for a few ideas of the services I offer.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,
Just wondering if there would any chance of you bringing up the new colour DIS to get a look see.

Cheers

Steven

Just a quick update to say that if anyone has any spare parts that they want to offer for sale at the meeting that would be great. I know I have a list of items that may find new owners and it is great when you find something that others may need and save on postage. I will be posting up my selection later this evening.

I suppose that, in theory, I could bring the converted cluster with me, but we'd have no way of powering it up. Unfortunately, I've been far too busy recently to progress this project ...but it's in the pipeline. :)

Cheers,

Tom

I might be interested in a driver side fog lamp and the rubber exterior trim for a driver side rear window - the little one before the rear end of the car - mine has splits in it (I assume it can be replaced?). PM me price and I'll decide if it annoys me enough!

Is it not just a case of using the power socket in the A2 and a plug and two wires?

But I am not brilliant with "electrickery", so I am sorry if it is not that simple.

I have for sale these 15" alloys. Tyres are hankook and Yokohama but not much tread left so purchase will be for alloys only tyres are free and this front bumper, needs prepped as paint is bad. I will also have a 1.4 petrol fuel sender/float and some standard indicator and wiper stalks. Wheels £75, bumper £30, stalks £5 each, float £30.

Beige false floor cover, great condition £35

I will be at Hermiston Gate at 9:30am on Sunday if anyone wants to meet up to travel together? If those from the South/West want to meet to please post here.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. The instrument cluster is attached to a permanent live and then requires an ignition-switched live to actually turn on. If not connected to the rest of the car, all that happens is a huge array of warnings appear on the screen (no fuel, no washer fluid, no steering angle sensor, no bulb monitor check unit, etc, etc). So, without fitting the cluster into a car or transporting my bench test rig to Scotland, it's not really feasible.

Cheers,

Tom

Evening friends,

I'm sincerely very sorry to be writing this, but sadly we are no longer able to attend the Scottish social this year. Despite the operation last year, Diane hasn't improved in the long-term and is in constant pain which varies in discomfort, but is always present. This has got much worse in recent weeks. We saw a consultant last weekend and a further operation will take place later this year. 12 plus hours in two days in the car is a touch too much or her; evidenced by the bad day she had today. In addition both children have exams on Monday - Kayleigh to determine class in secondary school and Kieran SATs. This was always going to be a challenge. I have considered coming along solo, but this would be selfish on my part as I really should be at home to support Di with the children.

I am really gutted as I was so much looking forward to the journey, the delights of the social and Scotland and also putting a face to the names; in addition to catching up with those I (we) know well.

I'll pledge here and now to make next years event. Again my apologies. I hope you all have a wonderful day, the weather is a delight and the social a success. I look forward to the pictures and write up.

Regards,

Darren

Shan't press the like button for this one DC. Not because I don't like the post - however a great decision like that one is worth more than a tick in the box. Family always comes first and we will see you and the family at a social soon and we'll hold you to the Scottish spring social in the Shetland Isles next year. :p
