Information Special colour order FSI help needed

Hi all

I've managed to buy the above FSI. I thought it was Akoya by the guys description over the phone (bought without photos) but its turned out to be a special order colour that i've never come across before. I've contacted 2 Audi dealers who have both confirmed that its a special order colour and therefore can't provide the colour code.

Is there any way to find out the cars original spec codes and colour code without the service book or sticker in the boot?

Thanks

Hi Steve,
I wouldn't be surprised if it is still Akoya Silver given that it wasn't an A2 colour I believe until the later part of 2003. So to be on a 2002 car would have required it to be a special order paint.

When I've followed our Akoya that does have a lilac hue. Perhaps the special order was what prompted Akoya to be added to the paint options in 2003

I've got an akoya silver car here as well and the difference is like night and day. Thanks for the suggestion though. I think a trip to the paint shop qill be the only way to know for sure.

If this is one of the first A2 FSi's could it have been a press car, hence the special colour, leather and Bose? In which case you may find it on the net from the original launch?

Interesting thought. All the pictures of A2 press cars I have found on the net appear to have Oxford "O" registration plates.... Haven't found a picture for the A2 FSI review through. Anyone got December 2002 of Audi Driver handy?

regards

Andrew

Well I've drawn a blank with Oxford Audi. The only information they have on the system was that it was a special order using a paint mixing machine (whatever that means). They also have no original order form for the vehicle or further information.

Obviously done at B and Q then Steve...... Its a lovely unique lilac colour and I don't blame you for keeping it.

Hi Steve,
Just for the record, my TT was on an OV plate before I put the private Reg on,
And apparently mine was a Audi press car, yet I've still to find any web pics,
Cheers Jeff

Sorry if i'm boring everyone with this and please tell me if I am but I think I've made a breakthrough. Having worked through 525 colour codes (phew) I think I've found it. I think it's planet silver LR7V which is a Lupo 3l colour which would fit the timing well.

Will still have to get it confirmed by a bodyshop but it's progress I think.

I think you're on the money there, good detective work!

Not the best pic for light and a dark car on the flank but I think it looks the same :)

looks a lovely colour and very nice car Steve. Looks similar to a silver so holds your gaze as you work out it is something a bit different and warmer in colour if that makes sense. I am normally a fan of the slated grille, but yours looks great sporting the smooth shine flap. Definately a keeper. Pleased this novel car found its way to you.

Andrew,
The test A2 FSi in the Dec 2002 edition of Audi Driver carried the registration no. OY52 LHO if that is what you were searching for.

Thanks to my Scottiah friend Mr Henderson I've found the above link. It would appear that this car is one of two made to this spec and colour. Eveeything matches even down to the heated red sports leather that it's supposed to have. Looks like it was an Audi promotion vehicle as one of the two was used at the Birmingham NEC motorshow in 2002.

Great result Steve and the even better thing is that such a special car needed to be found by a special A2 owner !!! YOU!!!

So, does that mean your keeping it then Steve? :)

Well Sam has said by no means should I sell this car but I'll leave it to fate. If my tdi sells then I'll keep it. If it doesn't then it will be sold once I've MOT'D it and given it a service.

Hi Steve,
You've probably worked it out already but I had a friend of mine who works at my local Audi parts check into it with technical and he confirmed this morning the colour is: y7w silver violet,
Cheers Jeff

Thank you so much for this Jeff. Was y7w the full code that he gave you? They are usually 4 digits. Ly7W is the colour of my current tdi and is silver sea metallic.
