Definitely interested if a kit comes out to retrofit this in place of half DIS!

The miniFIS would be a better choice if you have a half DIS. It is a similar project of a German enthusiast and A2 owner. The miniiFIS is not that powerful as ColorMFA. Nethertheless, it can offer oil pressure indication (oil sensor is included in the kit), the feature ColorMFA doesn't have. Cruise control is also supported etc.

Another important thing: clock panels with full DIS have a grey socket on the back side and it is missing on the back of a half DIS panel. All in all, I am not saying that bringing together ColorMFA and half DIS is not possible. It just might be challenging...

I have one miniFIS to sell as I got full DIS and then colorMFA. I ordered it last year when I saw first photos. More details on installation here.

PM me if you should be interested in this.

I'm a soldering god, I could hand wire memory expansion packs at the age of 16 directly onto the chip pins. As long as I can see it I can solder it.

I've got an A2 1.4Tdi with full DIS.

That sounds good. I made a long trip to Moscow this summer in order to get ColorMFA installed. Well, we had some issues with a clock panel as it came out of a British 1.6 FSI and was doomed to reborn in a diesel car ;-)

The most important question is: Would you be eager to repeat everything and install ColorMFA in other cars? It usually takes up to 6 hours including disassembly of a steering wheel, etc. I mean, doing it for yourself is not a problem, I guess. You might get requests regarding installation from the whole UK and beyond. Would you be ok with that? Well, rejecting is not an option:)

What concerns installation price, I hope I can find somebody who will not ask hundreds of pounds for installation of ColorMFA in the future (we speak about doing it for A2OC forum members in the UK or outside it). Actually, that is none of my business but I know how it should work in a forum community when somebody takes such responsibility.

Let me know you thoughts, lads. Sorry for a tedious post.

Timmus is our local guru on such matters, I would love to hear if he would be interested in taking on this challenge? :D

Details regarding the 6th production lot are here.
Contact information is here.

There is no
- RNS-E support (at the moment)!
- Webasto support
- Tyre pressure monitoring support

Thanks. So it looks like $200 plus postage. Is anyone interested in doing a group buy and we may get a discount if we can get a decent amount ordered and shipped to a single address?

So, the English version of the software is being tested. Improvements:
1. A new display mode for current speed with BIG digits
2. Three unit systems: Metric, Imperial, US. I haven't tested both latter ones yet.
3. 6th gear issue is partially fixed

I will make some photos later...

Love it want it. Is there a way of knowing if my car is gonna accept this Tech without taking the car apart? From production date perhaps ???...

firstly do you have the full DIS onboard MPG display?

Is your car a post 2002 (i.e. With the 42 litre tank).

If yes to both you should be ok I believe.

Oh dear full dis but 2001 smaller fuel tank. Hope this doesn't become a none starter..

You must have DIS, you MIGHT get by with the tank size being smaller.

Perhaps you should try to get someone to convert your car to DIS first (or get them to convert AND. Fit this great mod at the same time. )

Tank size is not a problem unless one has a combination of a tank from early production years and a car with a late production date and vice versa. There was a change in fuel tank indication logic (inverted signal) that might be a real pain in the back if one plans to install ColorMFA...

BTW, I got 59 (UK) and 49 (US) mpg respectively. Is that close to reality?

This looks great! Subject to costs I'm in (full DIS & small tank). Any chance it can also do something about the low washer / low fuel warning buzzer that scares the bejesus out of me everytime it goes off?

Definitely interested and I guess I count as a soldering God too ...

Now what do I need to convert to full DIS ?

I have a 2000 1.4 75PS car body (gasoline) with an extra 80-little LPG tank can I install it? I believe it has no can bus (right?) if this is the case can I put can bus on my car? pros / cons of this mod?

Thanks Mr Broons! I've been keeping an eye on this thread. I'm too busy to get my head into the nitty-gritty right now, but it's something I'm willing to consider once I've got a bit more time.

For all those who are interested in this mod but don't have full DIS, see here: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?29909

Cheers,

Tom
